Jonathan May Sack Northern Military Generals by Nobody: 11:08am On Mar 01, 2010
Any moment from now the acting President of Nigeria and Commander-in-Chief, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan may succumb to pressure into sacking some top military and intelligent officers from Northern Nigeria through a deliberate smear campaign on suspicious disloyalty. According to the finding ofthe Economic Confidential, the pressure is being mounted by powerful groups of politicians and ethnic leaders from the South through some selected media and blog outlets.

The sectional groups under the guise of fighting for national interest want either the Minister of Defence, retired General Godwin Abbe from Niger Delta or the Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshall Paul Dike an Igboman from Delta State to make the announcement.

The groups were encouraged by the visits of former American President George Bush and ex-British Prime Minister Tony Blair to Goodluck in Abuja which they believe is an endorsement of superpowers for Goodluck to takeover fully. They are therefore suggesting that Jonathan should emulate the strategy employed by Olusegun Obasanjo when top Northern military officers were retired prematurely in 1999 and nothing happened.

The excuse given for the premature retirement of northern military officers during Obasanjo’s administration was that most of them were alleged to have held political appointments such as military administrators, ministers, chairmen and members of corporate bodies and public institutions.

This is another cabal rumour. Why add "Northern"? And some tribalistic fools are already taken in by it on the original website. Na wa.
If any officers have been disloyal, they must be sacked.

Beaf:

If any officers have been disloyal, they must be sacked.

In your opinion, was the COAS disloyal in deploying a security cordon in parts of Abuja, when yaradua sneaked in,without authorization from the Minister of Defence or  Jonathan?

These silly fellows will go any length to spread parochial news even at the price of bring this country down.

Like Beaf rightly said, why adding "Northerner" to it, if not to create a particular impression.

But I believe that most Nigerians are getting more knowleageable about this kind of spin.

Never are we going to allow them to reduce this purely constitutional issue to a "North Vs South" problem.

June 12 has taught lessons and things like this is one.

He had better sack them or they sack him.

He will not sack them but they should have an informal meeting to calm nerves after which they have an official meeting and release a statement.

All these news reports that say nothing concrete but "MAY" or "FEELERS" or even "OUR SOURCES" should be discarded because the MAY effectively provides a back door should the event not take place.

This is is like a prophet saying that if you pray hard you will make money so if money comes then you prayed hard, if it doesn't then you no sabi pray.
