SATAN IS DESPERATE TO HAVE YOU

Luke22:31 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:
Luke22:32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.

Having given our lives to Jesus Christ and turning away from the way of destruction, Satan is therefore Jealous that you have escaped from his trap and you have hope of eternal life. The bible says that " Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour" (1 Peter 5:cool. From the day you gave your life to Christ, the devil, your adversary has been looking for ways to bring you down, in order for your faith in Christ to fail.

It is clear from 1 Peter 5: 8 that Satan is so desperate to make the elect of God lose their faith in God. But we do have to be vigilant in order to know the schemes of the devil. Being vigilant here is both physical and spiritual vigilance.

In the scriptures above, Luke 22:31-32. Our lord Jesus Christ was able to discover the plans of Satan because of his spiritual vigilance. It is clear from the statement "
Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you" that Simon himself doesn't know the plans of Satan towards him because he is not spiritually vigilant. As children of God, it is important for us to be spiritually vigilant in order to know the plans of Satan towards us.

Why did our lord called Simon two times? It shows that what he was about to say is very important, also to emphasise the desperation of Satan to have Simon and other disciples.

The statement "that he may sift you as wheat" simply means that Satan wanted to separate Simon and other disciples from the love of Christ, thereby, making them to go back to their old sinful ways. If Satan had succeeded in this plan, the gospel wouldn't have spread across the world as it is today, All glory be to God.

As true believers of Christ, the devil is also desperate to have us in order for him to sift us as wheat. We therefore, need to be on guard and be very vigilant. The only way devil wouldn't be able to have us is through praying without ceasing.

Prayer was what our lord Jesus used to help Simon and this is the kind of prayer he prayed "that thy faith fail not". This is the kind of prayer we should pray always, so that our faith will not fail indeed. We should also endeavour to pray for others also.

If you have not given your life to Christ. The good news today is that Jesus Christ is willing to have you to himself, you only need to accept him and declare him as your lord and saviour and he will come into your life and make it new again.

Imagine if you and i were in the devil's shoes (God forbid) and our fate is settled forever in the lake of fire....would we want anyone to make heaven?
No!!! That is why satan paints sin so tempting and harmless to lure men away from God and eternal life.
