The family of late Chief Mrs, Nwanyiuzo Ezeugwu of Igugu, Udenu Local Government of Enugu State on monday commemorated the demise of their mother, grandmother and great grandmother who died on 25th September, 2016 at the age of 95.

Commemorating the death of mama, the family of Late Chief Mrs. Nwanyiuzo Ezeugwu offered free medical outreach to the people of Igugu and nearby communities.

According to our correspondence who was at the event, the memorial of Late Mrs Nwanyiuzo Ezeugwu, started with a Thanksgiving service at St Paul’s Catholic Church, Igugu on Sunday 24th September, 2017.

The memorial service was attended by Mama’s children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, relatives, friends and well wishers.

The medical outreach on Monday offered medical services as there were over 25 medical experts to offer all forms of medical assistance which included laboratory tests, consultation of doctors, examination of patients by nurses and dispensing of free drugs by pharmacists.

Pharm. Augustine Ezeugwu, a director at the Pharmacist Council of Nigeria and the eldest son of Late Chief Nwanyiuzo Ezeugwu described Mama as a philanthropist who would always offer medical assistance to people especially breastfeeding mothers who had difficulties breastfeeding their babies.

He added that to show how remarkable Mama’s philanthropic character is Mama died on 25th September which is world pharmacist day.

Hon Ikechukwu Ezeugwu, the leader Enugu State House of Assembly and the second son of Late Mrs Nwanyiuzo Ezeugwu described late Mama as philanthropist. He recalled that mama would always send him to deliver herbal medicines to breastfeeding mothers who had difficulties breastfeeding their child.

Mrs. Ebere Okpara, a grand daughter of Late Mrs Nwanyiuzo Ezeugwu and a nurse initiated and spearheaded the idea of medical otlutreach in memory of Mama.

She said Mama deserved something more as she was a mother to all adding that Mama always advised her and taught her that life is not a bed of roses.

The patients were taught first aid practices and safety measures that will ensure a safer lifestyle for the corresponding audience.

The medical outreach was a success as over 200 patients benefitted from the outreach.
