Watery speech that couldn't boastfully say ''these are my concrete achievements since 2015, rather he was boastfully telling us how he would not tolerate Nigerians expressing their ill feelings. This man's regime nearly plunged this country into another civil war because he lacks diplomacy in dealing with civilians. He's struggling to pull Nigeria out of over 90 International organizations but forgot that some of these organizations are the reasons Nigeria gets foreign scholarships and grants. What a President!!

The speech is quite assuring and promising..... Notable laudable achievements were mentioned and it's only a matter of time before Nigerians see the change in every aspect of their lives...
God bless Nigeria, God bless Oyo State.
Lmao assuring? is it the first of such speeches we have heard over the years? what did u expect to hear? This country works only on paper and for the political class..stop deceiving yourself. I have been waiting for ages for the change. Nigerians are so gullible. Wait for 2019 when people will be hoodwinked yet again...maybe the promise then won't be this SHITTY CHANGE it would be RESTRUCTURING.

How has all this improved ur life? Do u have good roads? Do u have steady power? How are the masses. feeling? Can people afford 3meals in a day? How does all this translate to the common man? Are there jobs? Please don't even say start a business because we can't all be business people. What they'll give the common man is Npower where you'll receive 30k a month while the plum jobs are for the children of the elite. Zero transparency in every sector. 57 wasted years. Bum of Africa. Even southafrica we helped gain her independence in 1996 is a whole lot better than us. Same as applied to Ghana. Only an unrealistic person will hail this country.

Our leaders are the one causing division in Nigeria.

Great speech that addressed the current situation in the country.

If they criticize, ask them to tell you what they expect from him, why they expected such and why they feel what they expect from him is better than what he just said. Just watch them as they start stammering.

Any riff-raff running a hate-filled radio station can't just wake up one morning and be asking for Referendum. Who is Nnamdi Kanu in the scheme of things in this country? Is he one of your elected representatives in the Senate or House of Reps to be making a call for referendum? What he and his IPOB could have done is to pressure your elected Reps from the region to debate these issues passionately on the floor of the National Assembly, and not insulting the President, other tribes and even his kinsmen who disagree with him on his approach. There are recognised persons elected to push for such, otherwise every Tom, Dick and Harry will be making different calls for referendum on every issue in the country. I hope you know referendum is not just limited to calls for secession?..You get the gist?

Thank you my friend for this unbiased analysis. I was expecting to read a comment pointing out what the president said regarding legitimate channels via the NASS and states house of assemblies where the cry for restructuring can be intelligently debated, alas I couldn't find any. Many of the comments are unfortunately induced by unbridled bigotry towards the president who also has his own fare share of the blame. Again very insignificant few could also understand PMB's reference to the fact that our present constitution doesn't has a room for referendum unless amended. So it I untowards and impeachable offence for the president to wake up and announce a day for Referendum. Let me be realists when we criticise. However my assessment of the President's speech is 60%.

The insults and "threats" were just an act to get the needed attention! The request was a clear and simple one, give us a referendum. By the way, what do you have against a referendum?

Insult and threats don't work! Haven't you seen the numerous videos of him spewing nonsense?

He got a big stage, and only thing was for him to channel his new level to how to better actualize his Biafra dream, but he let ego take over his head.

Kanu has followed the wrong path, and he will pay for it .

I have nothing against a referendum, as long as other part of the country are not made to suffer. No tribe asked to be in Nigeria, but here are, having been merged together since 1914!

No same person approved of kanus methods.

But that aside, understand that you cannot hide under hate speech to silence the people's voice.

One question for you...

Supposing the Niger delta come out today to ask for peaceful referendum without hate speech or name calling whatsoever, do you think Nigerian will listen judging from Buhari's speech today?

Even without any hate speech do you think Nigeria is disposed to allow any referendum as it is today? Please be honest in your answer

One question for you, what has hate speech and name calling ever settled? It only breeds the war!

Imagine Arewa youths were allowed to carry on with that quick notice, and the Niger Deltans to made through with their own notice, do you think we will be talking about Independence today? That's what all Kanu speeches have been bringing up.

State governors, senators and representatives; there are many Igbos in this positions, why can't they push for it? They are in the government! Not some idiot that has enjoyed life to the fullest in the UK, and came back to put people's lives in danger.

There are recognised persons elected to push for such, otherwise every Tom, Dick and Harry will be making different calls for referendum on every issue in the country. I hope you know referendum is not just limited to calls for secession?..You get the gist?

Please be real! The elected officials and members of parliament from that axis of the country are in minority; they can't argue for or push for anything. A case in point is the southeast development commission bill that died a miserable death. The others are beneficiaries, and thus, part of the oppressive machinery that led to the struggle in the first place. By the way, what do you have against a referendum?

if you have nothing against it, then why are you antagonising the call for one? Leave Nnamdi's personality out of it. Your antagonism is borne out of hatred and the need to oppress a particular group.

Stop trying to be deliberately stup!d.

Oppress? I don't know how some of you ediots sit behind a phone screen and type rubbish.

Oppress a group, a whole Igbo?

When have you guys ever been oppressed? You all started the coup, and the Hausas thought you a lesson. Then Ojukwu wanted Biafra, and you all lost again.

In 2017, you think you are oppressed? Is there anything that other parts of the country enjoy that you do not enjoy? What privileges are devoid in Igbo nation?

Don't mention me again. Sure you must be 18 years old.

Why didn't the foolish idiot ask for referendum when his brother the drunk ineffectual buffoon was there looting and sharing our resources? You fools lost election and also lost errection. Any nonentity that calls out the president for a fight is not asking for peace. Nnamdi Cownu said Igbos should attack any Fulani they see as if your forefathers can dare it. Yorubas were schemed out of Goatluck Jonathan's regime, yet we did not call for the country's division. You pigs and idiots have the Governor of the Central Bank, the Minister of State for Petroleum, the Minister for Foreign Affairs. the Minister for Labour, Minister of State for Agriculture, Head of Service of the Federation, Chief Justice of the Federation, and some others which I cannot remember now. What else do you pigs and idiots from the Potopoto Republic of drugs. kidnapping and robbery want? Biafra or death? We shall never give your Biafra, if you want death, go and slap a soldier at the military barrack.

Too poor! SMH

Is threatening to burn down the country same as asking for referendum?

Creating Biafra secret service, flouting bail conditions and many more.

The scammer should come out from his hiding!

Catalonia about to have a referendum in Spain, did you hear of unlawful agitation?

All other referendum that has happened, which one occurred with one nonentity as a leader threatening the government? Spewing hate speeches at other tribes and his non supporters...

He should come out, he will not see his wife and kid till he grows old inside prison!

just leave those iPobians alone.. they have always proved they are a bunch of retards who can't think straight.
they deliberately try to sound innocent and been victimized.. whereas they are the venom in the sting.

Nigeria, though a country of great potentials, is currently faced with myriads of challenges.

Having that in mind, what's your take on Mr President's 57th Independence Day speech?
to remind people of war whenever they talk of self determination is the highest act of terrorism and hate speech so i tried my best not to see him as a terrorist but can't help it. it is very obvious. youths! only truth can save us from this 'build, destroy, build, destoy' rat race syndrome. the earlier we distance ourselves fron the lies, injustice, nepotism of our leaders and unite in Godliness, the better for us. leadership in all levels including churches has failed. Trust them at your peril.no wonder the bible says man can't even direct his steps.

We are on the same page Bros but you didn't answer any of my questions. So I will paste it here again. Please read and answer...
