Sometime ago, for the fallacy of time; I thought this was a well dressed madman- a phone call came through, and into the bag the hands of a woman flipped to answer the call. Then after Two minutes, she gave it to an abgada wearing man smiling in hessitation to receive the phone.

Fantastic!- on receiving it, it was a show of `I CAME FROM A VILLAGE WITHOUT BASIC AMENITIES!': He threw the phone on the grass on earing a sound. (Jake!) He moved near the phone on the grass (thank God, they were stnding on a large lawn), he move nearer and listened, the voice still continued, thank God it was on a loudspeaker. The woman who gave the phone to him was between rage and laughter. She came annoying to take the phone from the ground, but he stopped her short! He knew the owner of the voice "sha pke ko kinshe oun Oreola niyi? Omo mi lon sururor yi! (is this not the voice of Oreola. My daughter is speaking!)"

E'bgekuro ni ile baba, eti yhi ni ebge si! (Take it away from the ground. You need put it in your ears sir)

...

He looked at the woman, he looked at the phone still on the grass. Disbelieving the first person, disbelieving the speaking phone where the speaker Oreola was shaking with laughter. "Omo mi, ba wo ni sikulu? (My daughter, how is school?)"....

He drew near the floor to take the phone, IT BUZZES! He jump away some centimetres...

[Do not even think of it: because it was in a public gathering, all around was laughter...!]

Then he sat down, enclose the phone that was still on the grass with his body,
Wo, Ore mi, mo mopke Aye ni yio (OH WHAT A SHAME OR NUNNERY? you may be thinking. The owner was laughing to tears!)

"Aye yi tio ti baje, oda o!" (This life that had spoiled is good o!)

"Daddy, ma wa ri yhi timba de lati sukulu... (I will come to see you when I returned back)"

.... ..... .... ....

What more- that was the ideal of people first coming face to face with technology. So, not his fault, but the fault of time.

There are things that will kill us, though we run far from it....

Laugh with me. %)

Well written to point. However, I couldn't help but point out your grammatical blunders. Dear Op, It's ATM, and not ATM machine(Automated teller machine machine)

Please, be guided and stop the lexical Impropriety tongue

QuestionMark910:

What is wrong in being local Please tell me what is so bad about being local?? Even you TechPanda as posh and civilized and sophisticated as you think you are; to some people somewhere in this country Nigeria and to some people somewhere in this world you are still uncouth, unpolished, uncivilized and (according to you) Local!!!

Lol... Only a local man will care what they think? wink wink

Dude shut d f*ck up if u aren't properly informed. Presently, I make calls with my Nokia torch phone while holding the back speaker to my ear, why Because the IC that controls the headset feature is on fritz thus causing the phone to remain in a perpetual headset mode, showing headset symbol on the home screen even when no headset is plugged in. This means that when I make calls, I can't hear a thing from the front speaker leaving me with the only option of using loudspeaker, now what I do is to reduce the volume on loudspeaker such that I can listen with the speaker close to my ear at a normal sound.
Make your proper research before spewing thrash.

Have you ever watched someone making a phone call but then you can't help yourself staring at them and wondering where they come from?

If it turns out to be someone you probably just met, no doubt, they would definitely have left a bad first impression about them self.

And I bet you know how hard it is trying to correct a wrong "first impression".

But have you for a second tried watching yourself while you're on the phone?

Lol.. Sounds crazy right?

Yeah...

Just as it may sound crazy, it's even funny and to a point embarrassing; if only you could see yourself with a third eye.

Here're 5 Ways You've Probably Been Making Phone Calls That Makes You Look Local

1. Demonstrating on the phone

Do you remember the last time you saw someone demonstrating while making a phone call?

You may already be smiling right now if you can relate.

I've seen folks do this... the last time I saw this was last week and the guy on the phone was like;

"Yes, If you enter the house, go upstairs. By the left (with his hands pointing to the right like the person could see him) you'll see 3 doors. The first one leads to the bathroom, the second leads to the visitor's room. Enter the second room, by your left, you should see a tall wardrobe (still demonstrating how tall the wardrobe is)."

Lol... That's crazy.

Demonstrating while on a phone call is like spraying perfume just before you take a passport photograph. It's definitely of no use.

And if someone sees you doing that, they'd sure look you like you're local.

2. Talking too loud when there's an earphone on your ear

Shout out to all those who can't make a phone call without using earphones. You sure rock!

While most of them use earphones with some swagger, a lot of them pretty much get their self deaf with it.

Very much the same way they behave (talking too loud) when they have an earphone fit into their ear and probably listening to one of Wizkid's Hit songs.

3. Placing your phone on your ear while it's charging

I'll want to believe you don't already do this cos it's "wrng."

Yeah! You heard me right. It's so wrong that I forgot to spell "Wrong" right.

There's no techki explanation for this aside from the fact that it could shock your ears like how the Flash got struck by lightning. Of course, that's techki enough.

But there're health consequences of doing this.

I stumbled on this post of this Nigerian living in China who's phone exploded when he decided to charge it and make a call at the same time.

And after going through comments on post speaking on the dangers of making calls while charging phones, I discovered that a lot of consumers are asking if there's a particular ear one should use to answer phone calls

Well, there sure is. Paul Samuel - FitnessDoctor got it covered in this article - Here's Why You Should Use Only This Ear To Answer Phone Calls

You should check it out.

I'll advise you unplug your phone from charging just before you receive or make a phone call,

If you don't, you won't only look local, but you stand a chance looking like a dead meat.

4. Holding your phone with the back speaker on your ear.

Now, this is something you see guys and chicks with Nokia torch doing.

Couple of times, I've asked folks why they do this but they keep giving me the same answer - "the phone speaker is placed at the back of the phone"

To a point, that reason almost made sense until I asked why don't they make calls with the back of their Infinix phone on their ear.

Lol... Am still waiting for an answer though.

Probably you can give me one in the comments below. Come to think of it; Infinx places its phone speakers at the back their phones and if you ask me, those speakers are loud enough to get your call done.

5. Putting calls on the Loudspeaker while in public places

While I may consider this to some sort of show off, I also think it's local.

About a month ago, I was in need of cash so I went to the bank to make a withdrawal.

On getting there, I met a queue and just behind the queue was a crowd also waiting to use the ATM machine.

You know how it is when you meet a queue and you're trying to find out who's last on the queue? Well, I didn't even bother asking - it was no use.

After standing for close to 7 minutes, I was beginning to notice the crowd's frustration at the regressive movement of the queue when a phone call come through.

Initially, I thought it was my phone ringing but on seeing the lady close to me raising her phones to her ears to answer a phone call, I realized it wasn't my phone ringing and we had the same ringtone.

Honestly, I was starting to like her cos I felt we already had something in common (having the same ringtone is just okay to start a conversation)

So I felt until... she blew it.

With all that noise at the ATM stand outside the bank, she turned on Loudspeaker to pick her call. And from the sounding of her voice, I'm guessing it was her boyfriend.

The call lasted over 10 minutes (just before I got angry and decided to cut in lines). From the conversations I managed to eavesdrop, she was sounding so innocent, speaking with a crazy intonated feminine voice which I believe she was forming.

At some point, she was like... "Dear, I can't hear you clearly, I think the call is breaking"

And I was like...

Something told me she was trying to hit on me but deep down, my soul wasn't ready to give it a chance.

And here's where this story ends, I made use of the ATM machine before she did and she ended up looking less romantic and more local to me.

How do you answer phone calls, are you guilty of any of these, what other ways do people make calls that look weird to you? Share your thoughts.

This thread reminds me of a man I sat close to in a bus. He was shouting at the top of his voice (I guess he was talking to his son) he kept on saying "shut up and tell what you did with 20k, I will slap you o" and he was just demonstrating, he mistakenly hit someone in front of him.

O se lying liar.

With regard to Nokia torch thingy, the audio is much better and clearer if you hold it with the back speaker on your ear. That cannot be denied.

Want to why people don't make calls with the back of their Infinix phone on their ear? I guess experience has shown placing the front on the ear gives a good audio quality, so no need turning the back onto the ear. Same thing cannot be said of Nokia torch.

For Nokia torch, holding it with the back speaker on the ear is not local; it allows for a better user experience.

That demonstration on the phone is common and I also do it but not to the extent of raising my hands to say how tall a wardrobe is, I do it mostly when I'm having a disagreement on the phone. You wouldn't even know when you start shaking ur head in disagreement

I can relate... you wouldn't even knw u're doing it. that thing is magical.
