They keep tinkering with F1 in order to generate more interest since races have become predictable and processional. Unfortunately, the measures introduced are gradually killing the sport. For me, one of the more interesting aspects of the sport was the technological innovations brought to bear on performance of cars by teams. I liked, for instance, that cars became yearly faster. It did not mater to me that the richer teams with the finances and the technological advantages dominated. As far as I was concerned, teams became dominant because of the work and innovations they put in and not because they came in to F1 already rich and powerful. The various technological sanctions since introduced to the sport have more to do with equalizing the teams than for safety of drivers due to ever-increasing speeds. Yet there is one very simple way that F1 could generate more spectator excitement and interest in the sport without curtailing technological innovations and creativity. Ironically, the way to do this is for F1 people to fight against their current urges to interfere artificially. They should remove all the current restrictions on technological advantages and introduce just one thing. The thing formula 1 should do is this: F1 should remove the insistence put on back-markers to move out of the way so that front-runners can go past. In fact, F1 should penalise teams whose drivers move aside to let faster cars go past. If you think about it, it is unnatural for competitors, even those with little hope, to assist fellow competitors. I believe F1 only has to do this to change the complex of races and make them more competitive, intriguing and exciting.

Michael Schumacher said he must "raise his game" after Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg beat him in Friday practice at the season's opening grand prix.

The German legend, returning to F1 after three years in retirement, was nearly 0.5 seconds slower than Rosberg in both practice sessions in Bahrain.

"That is a bit too much for my standards. I've got to raise my game a bit and I'm sure I'm able to," he said.

Rosberg was fastest of all, 0.445secs quicker than McLaren's Lewis Hamilton.

Schumacher, who was 0.494secs behind Rosberg, had been 0.463secs slower than his team-mate in the first session in the morning.

Lots of new faces this year i even see Ayrton Senna's nephew aww i still can't forget the crash that killed his uncle it has to be one of the saddest moments in sport and a very scary introduction for me as a toddler back then. This season should be a very interesting one i just wonder how Ferrari would manage Massa and Alonso who would back down for who same goes for McLaren with Hamilton and Button obviously Hamilton is the better driver so isee him having the upper hand

Don't bet on it just yet.
Report reaching Moi is that Ferraristas might have exceeded their car engines limits in the process of winning this race.
You should care to notice that there is still a long way to go!
I'm Happy for Lewis though.  tongue cheesy

of course we all know that there is along way to go and that anything can happen but a 1-2 on opening championship race is a real boost of confidence for them and can only be beneficial!!

lets see how it goes in Melbourne in 2 weeks time. even 1point would be better than last yr fiasco!

Michael Schumacher raises doubts about F1 rule changes

Seven-times world champion Michael Schumacher aired doubts about changes to Formula 1's rules for 2010 after his return to the sport in Bahrain.

The 41-year-old finished sixth in his first grand prix for four years, won by Ferrari's Fernando Alonso.

"Overtaking was basically impossible unless somebody made a mistake," the German said following the race.

"That is the action we are going to have with this kind of environment of race strategy."

Exactly what I felt before the season. I hope it doesn't turn out to be an "anti-climax" of a season.

FIA invites new teams to enter 2011 championship

The FIA has requested expressions of interest from new teams who may wish to participate in the 2011 world championship. The Formula One regulations allow for 13 teams, meaning there is currently one slot available for next season.

According to the sport’s governing body, the ‘overall long-term interests of the championship’ will determine which candidates are ultimately selected. One or more ‘reserve’ entrants may also be identified to fill any 2011 vacancies.

The precise terms of the selection process will be laid out to interested parties next month.
