Osunbor Exposes Ex-godfather: Anenih Is Fake by Nobody: 12:21pm On Mar 14, 2010
The lingering crisis in the Edo State chapter
of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
deepened over the week with Prof
Osarhiemen Osunbor, the eighteen months
governor who was booted out of office by
the Court of Appeal finally breaking his
silence.
Osunbor, who insists he wants to keep his
peace, was however, irked by insinuations
that Chief Tony Anenih ’s machinations were
responsible for his ouster from office by the
Appeal Court.
While accusing Anenih of being the
mastermind of all the crises in PDP in the
state, Osunbor said Anenih stood no chance
of influencing the Appeal Court judgment
against him because he (Anenih) is a political
“ feather weight.”
The soft-spoken Professor of Law told
National Life that Anenih is a feather weight
politician, who takes credit for what he lacks
the capacity to do just to sustain the mystic
around his person.
He, therefore, said Anenih was never
responsible for his removal as being claimed
by majority of his followers.
Hear him: “Ordinarily, I don’t like talking
about this issue of who removed me from
office or who did not remove me from
office. I have heard a lot of people saying
that because we had disagreement then over
the control of the Party, which is still
lingering today, so he influenced the judges
to remove me from office. That is absolute
nonsense. ”
Continuing, he said: “You all know all that
transpired that period about the primaries
and non-primaries. All what we are preaching
is internal democracy. If there is no internal
democracy the country cannot move
forward. I am surprised that people still talk
about one man as being responsible for this
and for that. I just want keep my peace. You
all know me as a peace loving person. I don ’t
like trouble. I am surprised that our people
believe in rumours they cannot ascertain.
Nevertheless, I maintain my peace. ”
Another PDP stalwart, Alhaji Aminu Omosa
has also blamed the crises in the party on
what he termed parochial and unilateral
actions of the leadership without regard to
its members.
Omosa explained that the leadership has
overtime held the party to ransom as if it
were their own personal property.
He claimed that the attitude of pandering to
the dictates of one particular individual
regarded as a tin god is the undercurrent of
the crises bedevilling the party.
The PDP chieftain said the arrogance often
exhibited by the party leaders has led to its
inability to call a meeting to seek ways of
countering the overwhelming influence of
the AC.
He however, pledged support for the
Comrade Adams Oshiomhole-led
administration in the state, claiming that its
programme of development was well-
articulated for the benefit of the entire Edo
people.
