Senator Ben Murray Bruce has shared a photo in order to explain the need for Nigeria to be restructured although it has generated different views from Nigerians.

The Bayelsa senator took to his Facebook page t share a photo of Lagos, Abuja and the Niger Delta. While the first two showed the beautiful buildings in them, the Niger Delta projected a region of shanty buildings.

Yes, bad leadership is one of the problems of the Niger Delta, but the FG is not giving the region the required attention for structural and human development.
Lagos was a former FCT leading to it's rapid development, presently Abuja's allocation alone is bigger than that of the entire Niger Delta states.

No amount is too little for development if the governors are ready to work. My state monthly allocation is about 13 billion, N13 billion can do a lot of things but because of corruption only N1 billion will be available for development.

As usual the legislooters would rant as if they are not the root of the problem blaming the executive alone or the Federal government as if they are not part of the government.

What ve guys done to use the legislative powers to enact good laws that wud ensure transparent and accountable use of public funds?

What have u as a lawmaker done with the constituency allowances in terms of projects that wud benefit ur immediate constituents?

In the first place, the national assembly has no business financing projects and as such are never entitled to fund for financing projects. That is d sole responsibility of d executive. If the legislature have funds to finance projects then d judiciary should d same.

You can imagine the huge difference that wud be made if all d monies given to d 469 dishonourable and useless lawmakers were judiciously spent by d executive on capital projects u wud see how our infrastructure wud be developed, jobs created, encironment conducive for both living and business.

What about their allowances which is so high that makes them gulp as much as a quarter of our budget on just mere 469 bastards in power?

How can a country ever develop? What money is left available for capital projects with such high overhead or reccurent costs?

No wonder there are no short, medium and long term developmental plans showing that as a nation Nigeria has no plans for its generation unborn, and regretably a nation with no developmental plans has no future. Do you know Abuja monthly allocation? Is any state govt in he Niger Delta as corrupt as the the Federal govt. I'm just tired of hearing this Niger Delta is corrupt rhetoric. How big is Abuja? Can u compare its size to the Niger Delta?

Though I sympathise with the Niger delta, but, Niger delta, like the South east, has the highest number of selfish leaders. Who when they get the opportunity, use it to better themselves and family and sell out on their people.

Niger delta is full of emergency billionaires like Ayiri, Tompolo, Ibori, Etc etc. These people stole the collective wealth of the people in collusion with Federal govt, while using the plight of their people as a bargaining chip.

Am from Delta state and I can tell you that lack of development in the state is due to corruption and lack of plan from the state government. Lagos state receives such amount because of businesses in the state, Ogun state is now IGR is almost the same with my state Y? because Ogun state used its allocation for development, which brought in investors.
