There're tricks that every child crave his/her mother's love and hands of fellowship. Just as they relate with their peers, they want to be themselves with you, to bare their soul, to express their mind, to be able to breathe freely with you. Children want to be understood and appreciated.

When this relationship is well established, a trust would've developed which your children can carry into adulthood and even pass onto their children. By this time you would've effortlessly won them over to the Savior. How then can you win your child's trust and confidence?

Your first step is to develop the habit of asking questions that'll create a meaningful conservation. The typical to “How was your day”? Are “Good” and “Fine”. Ask open-ended rather than closed-ended questions that result in one word responses. Ask specific questions that'll stimulate your child to think rather than general questions. Show your child that you have a genuine interest in what's going on in his/her life. Don't force this process, however, let it come naturally and soon your child'll respond.

Ask casually and soon, your child'll start to volunteer to provide the information you need. Find out who influences your child. Even ask tough question such as, “How do you feel about our family”? The point is not to judge your child responses but to know what he/she is thinking or how he/she feels. Resolve each day to spend a few minutes getting to know your child better.
