The elites and politicians are the major problem of the north's backwardness, but we always support them blindly because of tribe, religion and sentiment.
That is one major problem Nigeria has... If we can deal with it and start voting people in for the right reasons... We go rule the world

I hold no grudge against Buhari for telling the World Bank to concentrate on the North-East. I feel any sane person would say that. The social suffering there is too much!

They are always quick to tell us how they are good in agriculture but yet hunger is dealing with them,
if 3.4million are malnurished when oil money is flowing, what will happen when restructuring comes and the oil money stop coming?
No wonder they always sweat whenever they hear restructuring.

Lol.. .u don't understand they are feeding other states cheesy

true bro, it is not only peculiar to the north, also the south, we saw how ibori was celebrated in delta state after stealing huge amount of money, likewise dieziani and Co. Nigeria can never get better if we refuse to shun and criticize our politicians because of tribe, religion and sentiment.

Malnourish always follow suit when ever there's destruction of lives and properties but the northern own could be seen as unreasonable man made problem while the alleviation of it via finance will affect all Nigeria, that's painful and disheartening.

The Northern oligarchy is to be blamed for their backwardness and impoverished state. They've ruled the country more than any other region in the country, yet illiteracy is still on the high side, social vices is the order of the day as a result of being religious extremist. Instead of building schools they are building mosque, breeding the next Sanusi, they choose to breed religious extremist... Waiting I they yarn self...

You are right, the northern regions do not contribute much to the economy just like the Southeast

Yea... South east don't contribute bro.. But have u taken time to look at the number of business men from that region scattered all over the country? Have u calculated how much they generate?

Also, easterners know they contribute nothing but are fighting for restructuring... Why is north not bold enough to fight for same? East is parasite right? But they are not scared of seeking for 100% resource control..what does that tells u? They don't give a Bleep about oil..

An average igbo man prefers to hustle than to beg.. Igbos are born yo survive.. They have human resources which north lacks..

Human resources is not about population.. Is about hardworking citizens..

Have u checked out sectors like entertainment, music, movie, transportation, fashion, small scale and medium scale enterprises, production, ict, education, etc.. Can u count how many igbos are doing fine in these sectors compare to northerners..

U see, the entire south is blessed with human resources.. It is not about lazy population.. Is about hardworking citizens..

East may not have the so called oil but they don't av as many beggars as found in the north and even in the west. Igbos have dignity in hard work.. No matter what it takes...

Igbos have conquered the south east region, they have businesses and companies doing fine there. They control that economy in that region.. They have to move further to other regions to dominate and influence economy too because they rule their own economy..

Come to Ibadan for instance, Queenslima market is ruled by the igbos, Dugbe market is ruled by them too, Aleshilonye market too, etc. Thee are important markets for the economy of that state

Go to Onitsha, the market is huge, it is controlled by the igbos and not any other tribe.. Go to Aba, the market is large, the Aba market serves east and south south states.. It is huge and worth billions of naira.. It is controlled and ruled by the igbos and not any other tribe..

I was in jos and was shocked to see markets mainly ownered by easterners.. Even in Edo state..

These people have conquered their own economy and influences the economy of many states within the country..

These are same people who were dealt with during civil war and had almost nothing left after the civil war..

My brother, the igbo race is dam strong and hardworking.. U know it deep down..

Take a look at sport sector sef like football.. Even clubs in other states, u will find igbos doing extremely well.

I must confess, Yorubas and igbos are extremely blessed with human resources. Life does not start and end with oil.. Northerners lack human resources..

They can only survive with oil. Simple..

This hmanitarian crisis is always looming in background. I've read at least 6 stories with this headline. The destruction these Boko Haram do is exacerbated by the fact the burn down farm land, steal food, and livestock. The region hasn't fully recovered to the point the government can send them out of camps to rebuild.

Well written piece, another problem north has is the laziness and nonchalance Nigeria system breeds, over 50 years ago north were since educationally disadvantaged today its same story, why they have refused to improve themselves is simple, no matter how they get Nigeria system will be short term incentives for them like eg the recent reduction of jamb cut off marks these are things that worsen north situation and they don't want to learn

I'm Igbo too but I had a reason for making that comment.

- I hate it when Igbos call northernes parasites despite not being the one feeding them

- we are not interested in oil, but we keep trying to coarse Delta State and some other oil producing states into our agitation for Biafra.

- we are the ones clamoring for resource control even when resource control was stopped by one of our own.

- The Igbo region region benefits from oil money just like the so-called nothern parasites

- you know our Governors can't pay salaries without oil money?

- clamouring for resource control? Hope you know that most Igbo businesses are situated outside the the Southeastern region And their taxes will be paid to the host states and not Southeastern Governors Believe it or not, restructuring will only favour southsouth and sothwestern regions.

We should be rational in our thinking

U are still seeing this thing from the angle of resources.. Bro, Bleep resources

Igbos have human resources which is best resources..

My point is, south east and north contributes little to the federal govt but u can't compare east and north in any way.. East is still wag ahead per human income.. That is the point.. Human resources is what igbos have and that is the best..

U people need to stop seeing restructuring as an issue.. It is not bro..
Every state in Nigeria has the capacity to feed her own people..

When there is no free money bro, states will be forced to use what they have..

Egypt earns a lot from tourism.. Same as Tunisia and these countries are doing well. Sport can generate a lot for a country..

It is not about oil bro.. It is about human resources.. Igbis have it.. And don't judge IPOB biafra to be the ideal biafra..

The biafra pro biafrans seek is the lands that belong to old eastern region and there is nothing wrong with that..

U should support restructuring bro.. People can develop their own ports and make all the money from it..

Stop seeing life in oil alone.. Each state can survive without it if they want to bro.

But what can make them survive is the human resources they have.. Igbos have that.. They can survive any how.

With the current oil money, north is still dam poor. What does that tells u?

I'm neither for not against restructuring. I just want to see how it'll benefit the Southeast.

The human resources you are talking about are being used to develope other regions, not ours.

You mentioned seaport but the Southeast is landlocked.

ProBiafrans seek lands that belong to the old Eastern region, why include Delta and Benue states

You people clamour for resource control like it's the only way to development.

China became the fastest growing economy without resource control.

We need to restructure our minds, not the economy... Put an end to corruption and instill patriotism on every citizen and watch the economy grow with or without restructuring.
