If HausaFulani decided they do not want alcohol it is hypocrisy but when Igbo lied that the Nigeria army is infesting them with monkey pox it is revolutionary. You people need to have your head examined. Why don't you force the alcohol down their throat now.
We are saying they can go ahead and ban alcohol but they should not participate in the share of the money generated through the sale of the alcohol to the "sinful" states

Another wankfest by southerners on nairaland. Amusingly, a southerner ignored all the social ills in his region to write an essay about the North breaking beer bottles. Talk about obsession, LMAO. They some how believe their opinions means shiiit to northerners grin

The average northerner doesn't even know a hateful bunch like y'all exist so I advise you get something better to do with your lives.

Few people are talking about any ills. The consensus is simple. If you choose to remain in the stone age and wallow in your moral superiority to the South, then please, do not be hypocritical enough to profit from the immorality of other Nigerians. Alcohol sales provides a significant proportion of Nigeria's VAT and the cavemen who choose to saddle the rest of their society with their hypocrisy should not get to benefit a kobo from the VAT contributions of alcohol.
That simple enough for ya?

pretenders. . .every where. .I don't know why everything in nigeria is being turn into politics. .so beer consumption is now bad and say politics. .was sharia law not there before obasanjo came into power in 1999? sharia law has been secretly included in the 1999 constitution yet no one talked about implementing anything. .they tried using it to destabilize obasanjo gov't but saw that baba was tough n did not even send them, now they have come again. .how much does that poor jigawa generates n adds to the federation account, yet takes Hughes allocations from the federal government. .are you telling me thay don't produce n drink beer in Iran, Egypt, Indonesia or even Saudi Arabia? just allow the production or consumption, but impose huge tax or fine, that way you generate revenue for the state. .I thought they say state religion is not allow n dat naija is a secular state. ..what happen to the rights of other non Muslims whose rights to drink beers may have been hampered by these actions? another drama is about to unfold. .

When we pretend to have virtues, moral principles or religious beliefs, it perhaps makes us feel closer to the creator. More often than not, we rarely take into cognizance, the effect of such on others.

when we do not really exhibit such virtue in totality, we become nothing but hypocritical with or without the knowledge of it.

On Thursday the 12th of October 2017, an online news media (http://punchng.com/jigawa-lg-destroys-475-bottles-jerry-cans-of-assorted-beer/)

had it that “ Jigawa LGA destroys 475 bottles, jerry-can of assorted beer”

According to the report, “Hisbah, a sharia law enforcement agency in Jigawa, has prohibited the consumption of beer in all part of the state.”

They however warned the beer vendors to change trade or face the full wrath of the law.

One will not deny Jigawa et al the right to make and implement laws that are aimed at bringing sanity to the state neither do I intend to debate the rightness or otherwise of the religious believe of a people so long as it does not infringe on my own individual right.

That said, it is expected of states that have adopted such moral or spiritual laws to have taken a holistic approach in the implementation so as to avoid being hypocritical.

In Nigeria, Nine states of Zamfara, Kano, Sokoto, Katsina, Bauchi, Borno, Jigawa, Kebi and Yobe have fully embraced this law.

One question which readily comes to mind is; what happens to the owners and manufacturers of this products who are legitimate companies operating and paying their VAT to the federal government of Nigeria?

In the same country, some markets are denied them yet they generate huge revenue for Government which is shared by all 36 states plus FCT without restriction.

It is common knowledge that one who abhors crime should not be in possession of the proceed. Consumption of beer falls short of “sharia law” in Jigawa, it is thus prohibited. So should the VAT (revenue) from beer.

Consequently, to avoid being hypocritical in our quest for spiritual uprightness, the states where this law have been passed and prohibition on sale of beer in implemented, should in truthfulness to faith, compel the federal government through the FIRS to separate the revenue from beer before it is shared.

By so doing only states that open up their market should also share from its revenue and the states that have closed their market for this product should not turn around and share from the proceed. It is highly hypocritical and defeats the whole essence of religious virtue which the “sharia law” seeks to promote.

That is internet chest-beating nonsense. The reality is your greedy, grasping politicians always looking to scrounge for what they don't merit will keep profiting from the VAT.
I still fail to understand how you can subscribe to religious repression in people's private affairs. I'm not a secessionist at heart, but the South really needs to split from you people if it's ever to see progress. Then all your people can wear burkas around and ban all the alcohol you want.

The worst part you zombies can't see is your elite indulge in all the debauchery they ban the common folk from partaking in.

Jigawa is not solely a Muslim state. There are non-muslim indigenes and residents, why make a blanket law that is discriminatory. If a Muslim chooses to not drink alcohol then he should not go to where it is sold or even if he goes he can decide to take Coke. Nobody will force him/her to drink in his/her house.

This law is absolute nonsense, you and I know this.

No offence but it's clear you failed Government, or you would not speak so ignorantly about the inalienable rights entrenched in a democratic FEDERATING process.

By your logic there should not be a single mosque in the America, Britain or the Vatican.
By your logic Muslim students would not be offered halal meals in school in America and Britain.
By your logic the hijab or the niqab would not be allowed in America or Britain.
After all the majority there is of the people of the book.

Islam states, "to you your religion and to me mine".

Jigawa has no business imposing a religious law on all the residents of that state. Any Muslim who contravenes that laws, it's is between and the creator on yawm Al Qiyama.

Nigeria is a SECULAR country, and all public laws must abide by that or be done away with.
