Halloween's Day: All Witches Night Celebration by valentineuwakwe(m): 6:27pm On Oct 31, 2017
Today being October 31st each year is celebrated around the world especially in America, Europe and Latin America as Halloween's day, something like All hallows eve. it is celebrated the night before the Catholic popular celebrations days of November 1st and 2nd being All Saint's day and All Souls day.
the word Halloween dates back to about 1745 and is of Christian origin, do you believe that? Halloween means 'hallowed evening or holy evening ', it comes from a Scottish term for all Hallows eve.
it is believe that many Halloween traditions originated from ancient Celtic harvest festivals, particularly the Gaelic festival of Samhain; that such festival may have had pagan roots, and that Samhain itself was Christianized as Halloween by the early church.
Halloween activities tonight includes trick or treating, attending Halloween costumes parties, carving pumpkins ( yes that 'ugwu' seed we do harvest back home here), Apple bobbing, playing pranks, telling scary stories and watching horror films. . . .
