Nonsense, stop telling people lies. You are feeding them raw fish. Luckily, I am here to destroy all your lies.

Bwahahahahaha… cutters dont launch missiles and that picture is that of MELLON cutter. Do you know why was it made to fire hapoons? It is because it was reconfigured and to date remains the only cutter to have fired the missile.

Bwahahaha… So it is comfortable to say, cutters do not launch missiles.

http://www.uscg.mil/pacarea/cgcmellon/history6.asp

I quote:

CGC MELLON received the CG Unit Commendation Medal from 6 February 1989 to 27 February 1990, for her successful execution of several military readiness missions. Perhaps the most noteworthy of these efforts was her successful test firing of a Harpoon anti-ship missile. CGC MELLON was the only Coast Guard cutter to fire a HARPOON missile. Budget constraints and evolving Coast Guard missions later resulted in the removal of the HARPOON launching system. CGC MELLON retains the distinction of being the only Coast Guard cutter to launch a HARPOON anti-ship missile.

Why does your Navy need a Submarine?

I can bet 50 quid that your navy commander has a hilarious take.

This is what happens when you fill up your military with half-illiterate Zulus. Dumb Zulus everywhere!

If you were wondering why
South Africa has submarines, its because "we want to scare
away sharks in the rivers and oceans" says this SA Navy
Commander.

At 2:20 in the clip, the stup1d commander says this,

that".

Patcches689, Mikeczar, Jln115, Snydergp1st, SSaengine, Fighterpilot, Andrewza, Mzilakazi, Centrifude ....... Why does the South-African navy have submarines?

1. Penguins avoid swimming where lion seals lurk.

2. Strategic reccon.

3. Special operations.

4. Force multiplier.

- A powerful adversary would be compelled to commit massive and valuable resources to try locate an elusive submarine.

Splitting the foe's force unabling him to concentrate his armada and air power against you. The costs on his side will be higher than you.

Full battle space presence on land, sea (subsurface and surface), air, electromagnetic and at the information environment. Starting a war against such opponent will make you think twice as he will confront on all fronts.

This is sad and funny at the same time.

So.... "This is what your officer corp comprises of?", bunch of illiterates! Clear reason why the SAAF is incapable of raising more than 9 pilots.

You don't swim where the are sharks.

Area denial is what he is talking about. Vessels will avoid going into an area with known submarine presence.

Not all officers are combat officers.

Yes, the SANDF isn't better than the Malawian armed forces. They're tailored for the needs for that nation and we are not.

What needs are they tailored to, when exiting pilots keep stealing your planes?

Exiting pilots stole Air Force planes –

minister Some of the South African Air Force's (SAAF) planes
were stolen and put in museums, which is why there
were not enough planes for pilots to get their wings,
Defence Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula said on
Tuesday.

"We have a problem," she said in response to a
question to the National Council of Provinces (NCOP)
on why SAAF pilots were being sent to Russia and Cuba
to train.
"Sometimes these young people train and they run
short of flying hours before they can get their wings,"
explained Mapisa-Nqakula. "We can't give them those flying hours because there are no aircraft," she said.

Logistics, personnel and Engineering.

"Tactics" are for combat officers whom have the responsibility of Maritime warfare.

The Malawian armed forces are tailored for the environment they are in.

Funny how you moved from submarines to planes so quickly but it's fine.

She's simply defending a political decision.

Combat pilots have a lot of flying hours under their belts. They are not recently qualified pilots

Your Navy Commander wholeheartedly believes that SAN Submarines are primarily used in scarying away sharks in "rivers" (which Submarine operates in a river for goodness sake?) And Oceans.

Your military if filled up with irredeamable fools, look at this guy, Fighterpilot, Mzilakazi ...... SANDF members who know absolutely nothing.

Hello, I stumbled upon this forum and read last 10 pages or so, I am not surprised that there is toxic behaviour involving the subject and even less with amount of ignorance.

I am not surprised that few users are spreading misinformation about south africa and Denel as they take advantage of ignorance of others like in most african countries is done to their citizens and as with big corporations do and try to do around the world, best way to confront misinformation is with truthful information/facts.

It is true that 9M133 Kornet has a maximum range of 10 kilometers, but that is for variant with thermobaric warhead which is used against infrantry while anti-tank variant has a range of 8 kilometers which are both E/EM while Mokopa which is anti-tank has a maximum range of 10 kilometers which far exceeds original Kornet's range of 5.5 kilometers and not E/EM series. E/EM series are newer than Mokopa.

Hellfire ATGM has 11 km range and LAHAT ATGM has 8 km range with pim point accuracy. You must likely be one of the old Southies here who have run away into hiding since SAAF Gripen + Rooivalk + Mokopa all combined together to miss an easy target to disgrace South African military capability, now you created a new Nairaland user ID name/Monicker calling yourself Croat...fool, shame has made you change your name....maybe you have even started beating your wife at home in anger because SANDF disgraced your Rainbow nation after all these years of boasting on internet. grin
