Only the SANDF,TPDF,FARDC and MDF were involved in the fighting. Other armies are just normal peacekeepers. The SANDF superior training is shown by no SANDF has been killed yet. And only Ukraine,DRC and South Africa were using helicopters for air attacks.

Unfortunately, you are talking to a better informed and more knowledgable audience on this thread! SANDF were led in battle by the FEARLESS Tanzanian and DRC armies as vanguard forces against the M23. It is a well known fact that your cowardly SANDF were afraid to die hence they hid in the back rows of the battle lines. Thanks to the Ukrainian and Indian forces for saving your ugly behinds from M23 humiliation.

Mm yes I do. India has stated they only going to get around 40km range out of them. Nigeria does not have the means to produce them and it is not conformed nigeria even has B05s. All long rang shots with the FH77 B05 have been done with excalber and bounus rounds.

So unless you can show proof to the contray please shut up.

since we both have no proofs, then this forum hereby downgrades both nigerian Bofors F-77 and south african G6 artillery guns to range 40km for base bleed shells only.

50/50 no cheating, equation balanced

There is no proof nigeria has B05s, SA was reaching 50km in the 80s all ready(proof is the book first in last out) and there is no resoane SANDF does not have M9703A1 since they mase by denel with RnD money from the army budget.

Jonathan: Military 'll no Longer be Tolerated in Governance

09 Nov 2013

By Jaiyeola Andrews

President Goodluck Jonathan Friday in Bissau, Guinea-Bissau gave a stern warning that the global community would no longer tolerate military role in governance both in Africa and other parts of the world.

While addressing a special session of the National Peoples’ Assembly during his visit to the country, Jonathan charged their Armed Forces to embrace total respect for democracy and constitutionalism in the interest of their nation.

“It is no longer fashionable today to see the military parading themselves as the custodians of political power. Rather, it is fashionable for the military to embrace the protection, preservation and total respect for constitutional order and democracy in order to build a prosperous and an egalitarian society", he said.

He dropped the hints at the session which was also attended by members of the diplomatic corps and representatives of civil society organizations.

Jonathan who said he was in Bissau to show solidarity to the government and people of Guinea Bissau as part of efforts to ensure lasting peace and stability on the African continent, also re-stated Nigeria’s condemnation of recent attacks on the Nigerian Embassy and Nigerian nationals in Guinea Bissau. According to him, “mischief makers” in the country should be discouraged from inciting the public against brotherly Nigerians and Africans.

The President however called on the authorities of Guinea-Bissau to bring the perpetrators of the criminal attacks to justice.
“We should be our brothers’ keepers and work hand-in-hand in this era of globalization so as to reap the fruits that come with it. I want to reassure you that the incident that led to the death of a Nigerian will not deter us from our desire to ensure that peace and stability is restored in Guinea-Bissau,” he told the Parliament.

Jonathan noted that the objective of his visit was to “identify with your aspiration to transform your country to the status of a stable and democratic society that will guarantee peace and stable democratic governance, which is a fundamental pre-requisite for meaningful economic development.”

He therefore called on the country’s political leaders and members of its Armed Forces to “remain steadfast and maintain the commitment which you have demonstrated right from the onset until the transition process is successfully completed with the holding of general elections which will take place soon.” He urged all stakeholders in the country to sheathe their swords and work together in harmony to salvage the nation. He assured the gathering that Nigeria and ECOWAS will continue to make financial and material contributions to ensure that the general elections are held as quickly as possible.

The Speaker of the National Peoples’ Assembly, Ibraima Sori Djalo thanked President Jonathan and the Nigerian government for “Nigeria’s presence in our country every time we need support, particularly in this last crisis to which we are determined to find a solution.”

He described the October attack on Nigerians in Guinea Bissau as very “depressing” and reiterated the earlier official apology conveyed to Nigeria on the incident.

Both countries later signed a Cooperation Agreement to boost bilateral relations between them. The agreement was signed by the Nigerian Minister of State (Foreign Affairs), Dr. Nurudeen Mohammed and his Guinea Bissau counterpart, Fernando Delfim da Silva, in the presence of President Jonathan and his host, the Interim President of Guinea Bissau, Manuel Serifo Nhamadjo and top government officials of both countries.

During bilateral talks between the delegations of the two countries, which preceded the signing of the cooperation agreement, President Nhamadjo informed President Jonathan of the commitment of his government to conduct general elections and implement the reformation of Guinea-Bissau’s Security and Defense Forces with the assistance of ECOWAS.

He also thanked Jonathan for his tireless and positive efforts as the Chairman of the ECOWAS Contact Group on Guinea Bissau and Nigeria’s material and human support especially through its troops in ECOWAS Mission in Guinea Bissau (ECOMIB).

Jonathan had on arrival in Bissau, laid wreaths at the tombs of Guinea-Bissau’s great nationalist hero, Amilcar Cabral and other fighters for the nation’s independence. The President also had a meeting with members of the country’s Armed Forces led by the Chief of Defense Staff, General Antoni Indjai.

Before departing Guinea Bissau for The Gambia, President Jonathan met with members of the Nigerian community and also visited the Nigerian contingent of ECOWAS Mission in Guinea Bissau (ECOMIB) at Bras, Bissau.

Air Force Upgrades Research And Development For Fleet

Posted by: Channels Television Posted date: November 08, 2013 In: Local | comment : 0 Comments

The Chief of Air Force, Standards and Evaluation, Air Vice Marshal Sadiq Abubakar, has declared that the Nigerian Air Force has achieved a reduction of cost in the management of its fleet.

Brandishing some of the innovations by the Air Force, he told journalists that the Air Force could now also ensure that its ‘fleet is constantly deployed in support of other security agencies in maintaining security in the country’.

Some of the innovations include the hydraulic accumulators for two of its helicopters which hitherto cost 6,000 Dollars to procure each piece. However, in collaboration with tertiary institutions and research institutions in the country, the same product is now produced at the cost of 10,000 Naira (about $62.5).

Other innovations include mobile GPU systems for powering aircrafts and helicopters while on assignment.

The Air Force said it would continue to improve on its research and development such that the technologies and innovations could be exported to other African countries and reduce reliance on more developed nations.

It is quite a big difference, but when you take into consideration locally sourced materials, no exhorbitant direct development/overhead costs etc, then you realise how overpriced a lot of these parts (products) are and I am not just talking about spare parts for aircrafts.

the germans, swedish, and british are just ripping off south africa with all those expensive to buy and painfully expensive to maintain weapons they sell to your military and its hard for you to keep the weapons in service, due to lack of cash for regular maintenance.

chinese and indian weapons are cheaper to buy, cheaper to maintain, and tested for combat effectiveness in pre-service trials.

in real air combat, when F-7 jet of nigeria and Gripen jet of south africa meet each other, because of their limitations to only visual range weapons availability, it takes only about 20 seconds for the two jets to be hit by the missiles each pilot will fire. its a close range battle and both pilots will go to their grave that same day.

south africa does NOT have any seeker head or component part of PL-9C missile, you may buy another comparable type of missile from a different country in europe or israel, PL-9C is a chinese missile and south africa has NO access to its software codes or component parts.

a tip of the iceberg for now. expect more from nigerians who will give answers to your questions. just the nigerian U-17 world cup victory celebration that is keeping most naija guys away from forum this weekend.

yes nigerian army amphibious force has its own special assault boats, very modern and world class combat boats, best in africa.

their last major war was in niger delta against militants.

nigerian army has the best amphibious force in africa and one of the best in the world with combat experience from 1967-1970 biafra civil war of 3rd marine (amphibious) commandoes led into battle by general adekunle and later general obasanjo OBJ ex-presido himself.

Problem is the gripen will see the J7 long before it is seen, be able to move in to a blind spot, and fire far more advance AAMs. The self defence sytems of the gripen are far more advance. In order for a PL9 to fire out to 20km it needs the fighter to lock on with it's radar, then it fires the missiel and guids it till it's seeker head is in range. All of the above can be affect by EW.

PL9 is the excoport version of the PL8 witch is a copy of the python 3. The seeker head on the PL9 is the same has the one on the python3. Again I ask are you sure you work in the defence industry.

Nigeria now producing armoured vehicles

November 10, 2013 by Oyetunji Abioye 27 Comments

Armoured vehicles

AS interest in armoured luxury cars rises among the upper class, some Nigerian auto firms have intensified research work on the armouring technology.

Already, an indigenous automobile manufacturer, Proforce Limited, has commenced the production of Armoured Personnel Carriers.

Proforce said it had sealed a pact with Defence Industries Corporation and some para-military organisations for the production.

The Minister of Aviation, Ms. Stella Oduah, is currently facing criticism for allegedly forcing the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority to buy two armoured cars for her.

Wealthy Nigerians and top public office holders import a number of armoured vehicles.

The Managing Director, Proforce, Mr. Ade Ogundeyin, said in a statement obtained on Friday that his firm was currently working with the Defence Industries on the APCs, just as he stressed it was equipped to armour other categories of vehicles.

He criticised the idea of importing armoured vehicles, saying it did not make economic sense for Nigerians to continue to import what was available locally.

“There is no need for government or anybody to import bulletproof or armoured vehicles. It is a waste of resources.

“Why import at very high cost when there is capacity to produce better vehicles at comparatively lower prices locally? This is an issue I hope the new auto policy will address.”

Ogundeyin said the armouring materials were resistant to AK-47 gunshots and assaults with improvised explosive devices, stressing that the vehicles would run on special flat tyres that could endure several kilometres of journey even when deflated.

The Proforce boss also expressed support for the recently developed auto plan, describing it as one of the best policies of the President Goodluck Jonathan administration.

He said if fully implemented, the document was capable of boosting industrial activities in the sector and contributing towards the achievement of government’s targets for the economy by 2020.

He aligned with the thrusts of the new auto policy, which were to encourage investment, enhance technological development and revive production activities in the industry.

Ogundeyin said, “This is a laudable plan which is capable of transforming the local industry. The impact will be felt in many ways, including the establishment of many small- and medium-scale support industries, job creation and increase in capacity utilisation.

“But a lot will depend on whether government has the will to fully implement the policy, especially the area that concerns their agencies or departments buying locally made vehicles. Another critical area that requires firm action on the side of government is the one that introduces stiffer tariff structure for fully built imported vehicles.”

7 killed in Nigeria’s Kano state: military
Souce:Xinhua Publish By Joseph A. Cambra Updated 11/11/2013 3:07 am in World / no comments

At least five Boko Haram fighters and two soldiers were killed during the Nigerian military’s latest clampdown against the militant sect in the northwestern state of Kano, the military said in Lagos on Sunday.

Capt. Ikedichi Iweha, army spokesperson in the restive northern state, said in a statement that the Joint Task Force (JTF) had killed five suspected terrorists in the city’s metropolis on Saturday.

He added that two soldiers lost their lives during the early morning operation in two houses at the city’s Hotoro Danmarke and Brigade areas.

According to him, intelligence reports had indicated that the militants were in the process of finalizing plans to carry out simultaneous suicide attacks in Abuja, the country’s capital city and Kano.

Items recovered during the operation included two AK-47 rifles and large amounts of ammunition.

The military spokesperson added that the security outfit had been achieving positive results from its operations in the state.

The Nigerian military has stepped up fight against the extremists in virtually all the northern states in Nigeria.

More than 150 Boko Haram suspects in northeast Yobe and Borno states were killed more than a week ago.

The Boko Haram sect poses the biggest security threat in the West African country. Hundreds of people have been killed since it launched the insurgency in 2009.

i said show us a source, reliable source that south african army has the 67km or 73km range artillery shell in service , not the ones in DENEL test laboratory or sales shop where no customer has ever purchased one.

show us source to proof or else you shut up !

we all remember your lies earlier this year that G6 artillery gun has been tested to shell range 100km and you could not give us any single source to prove that for the past 9 months grin

south african army G6 artillery has maximum range shells of 40km only, FACT !!!

zaandrew:

I was only pointing out that in accepting armyguides info of FH77 B05 in nigeri's serves you will have to accept that SA has 86 G6s, 524MBTs and host of other stuff not listed any where els.

show us the armyguide weblink source that says south africa has 86 units of G6 artillery, you are telling lies against armyguide just because their website shocked you by saying nigeria has 48 units of Bofors F-77 B05 L52 artillery and that is the best in the whole world. up nigeria !

zaandrew:

Go to armyguide. Clike countries then south africa. It is not that hard. Or do you need me to change your dirty diaper to.

i prove you wrong again on artillery arguement, armyguide says south africa has 43 units of G6 artillery and perfectly correct.

armyguide data below

G6 Artillery Quantities:

Country Quantity

OMAN 24
SOUTH AFRICA 43
UNITED ARAB EMIRATES 76

Total: 143

source

http://www.army-guide.com/eng/product2680.html

armyguide is correct about swouth african G6 artillery and equally correct about nigerian Bofors F-77 B05 L52 artillery

stop lying @andrewza, this forum is not a do or die affair, accept nigerian army newly discovered Bofors L52 artillery as a nightmare you have to live with.

I gave you a source a books name, the book(first in last out) covers SA arty from the 1970s to 1989.

Again do you have proof no rounds have been purchased?

Again 50km was reached in the 1980s all ready.
