So there is a law that allows free movement of animals on your farm land?

Bravo to your intelligence

Nobody is restricting fulanis movement in the state, but to stop the open grazing which is illegal and even criminal. They should go buy land to rear their cows, no law permits animals to invade people's lands or farms in Nigeria.

Be guided[/quote

Spot on.

What Myetti Allah needs to do is contest the constitutionality of this absurd law at the supreme court. The government of Benue state has no right to pass discriminatory laws restricting Nigerian citizens from exercising their rights in that state. All these appeals will not work

Rights to graze on people's crops right? And murder them in cold blood when they bat an eyelid right? When a southerner moves to your states, they pay rents, lease or buy lands if they must do business, live subject to your conditions, but when your people move south, you grab, well that's about to change.

Imagine if I move north to your hometown with my herd of goats and start grazing them anywhere I see land, without consulting anyone, even you the land owner how would you feel?

This conquest mentality isn't gonna help anyone, you might be thinking you have the upper hand because of the docile nature of the southerner, but trust me that's gonna change one day.

You do not know the grass to grow! What you know is to take your cattle to the farms of people that know what to grow for your cattle to eat them! What even concerns Allah in the name of a cattle association!!

Again, Ayo Fayose comes to mind. Remember IKITI state passed the first meaningful law to regulate the activities of herdsmen.

What they need to do is to invite their brothers in Kenya to educate them on how they did it.

How can he claim they don’t understand the concept of acquiring huge areas of land space with restriction to practice their trade?

Since their leader claimed ignorance, here is a guide to settting up a ranch:
1. Identify a good healthy land.
2. Identity the owner
3. Lease the land for your business
4. Ask the state and federal government for intervention with possible loan or grant to learn the new way of doing things
5. Invite international experts (from Kenya) with similar issues in the passed but now practice ranching for knowledge transfer.

Clearly your way of doing things in the passed does not promote peace and unity. You guys make the President look bad whereas your civic duty required you as a people to show the world the best of your tribe as peace and loving people.

Stop thinking of subjugating your host. It is a failed approach to coexistence with your Neigbours.

I am disturbed that for over 2000 years of your practice as cattle rearers, you have not documented the Best schrubs for your cattles? If cassava leaves and maize stems are your best options, acquire a land and plant those for your animals - at least their is common knowledge that this what you have encouraged your mischievous herdsmen to do overtime.

Now, relate what he said to Nigeria and Fulanis herdsmen and tell me if Nigeria is not a Jungle

Same thing I keep telling people. Calling Nigeria a zoo is an insult to zoo owners and zoo keepers. This is because zoos are usually better organized than this shithole we call a country.

Nigeria is rather an evil forest where demons roam about looking for innocent blood to drink.

The next state that should enact and implement this law ASAP is Plateau State, they've suffered the most in the hands of the murderous herdsmen. I want to see how FG will react to this development, when the herdsmen went on rampage all over nothing was done up till now to stop them. Now people are taking their destinies in their hands, and some criminals are crying foul. With all the abundance of uncultivated lands in this country, herdsmen choose only to lead their herds into farms that people sweated to cultivate with their hard earned resources, time, energy and what have you. When the farmers try to stop them or send the cattle out of their farms the herdsmen butcher, massacre and wipe them out.

The truth still remain that if herdsmen will only feed their flocks on uncultivated lands alone, no farmer will ever mind them.
In fact no one should make available any land free for them to Ranch, if they desire any portion of land they should meet the owners of the land, negotiate and agree before it is sold to them for ranching. This is the only way they'll appreciate the land and take proper care of it to maximize its benefit.
Our mumu don do with killer herdsmen abeg, you will never hear Miyetti Allah make statements when herdsmen are on rampage butchering innocent people but you will hear their kakaki when people take measures to defend themselves.

Selling of land to them is more like inviting a plague permanently into your domain. Best bet is for lands to be put on lease with the lease renewed on yearly basis; so that if they misbehave, you'll have the right to send them parking.

NaijaEfcc:
Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has called on Federal Government, National Assembly (NASS) and international community to intervene in the Anti-Open Grazing Law operating in Benue.

The Chairman of the association, Danladi Ciroma, made the call on Sunday at a news conference in Lafia.

He said the law was implemented without due consultation with herdsmen in the state.

He added that “our people were not educated on modern method of rearing cattle so that when provision for ranching was being made, government would take into consideration the total number of cattle in the state.

“Due to lack of consultation, our people lack the technical know-how to conduct cattle ranching because even if we accept to practice it, we lack the needed expertise.

“We do not know the grass we need to grow and how it is grown, where to get it and how to preserve it for the cattle.”

He explained that countries like Kenya that successfully implemented ranching system spent more than five years educating herdsmen and provided the much-needed facilities before it was implemented.

Ciroma said apart from those who were the direct beneficiaries of ranches, animal health experts needed to be trained, while clinics and abattoirs, among other things, were supposed to be provided.

He added that the state did not take any step before enacting the law .

The zonal chairman, therefore, appealed to Federal Government, NASS and the international community to urgently prevail on the state government to reconsider the law for peace and unity in the area.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the association in Nasarawa State, Malam Mohammed Hussaini, said
the implementation of the law in Benue led to influx of herdsmen and their cattle to Nasarawa, noting that the situation should be checked to avert conflicts between herdsmen and farmers.

Hussaini explained that the influx of cattle to Nasarawa had led to destruction of many
farm produce and appealed to relevant authorities to intervene to check any crisis in border towns.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Nasarawa, Idrisu Kennedy, however, gave
the assurance that measures were being taken to avert any incident.

The PPRO explained that the efforts of the police and other security agencies, as well as that of the state government and traditional rulers were geared toward averting breakdown of law and order in the state.

Newsmen report that the chairman of association in Benue and other herdsmen from North Central states attended the news conference.

The Benue Government had enacted an anti-open grazing law and fixed Nov. 1, 2017 as date to commence its implementation.

The state government stated that the law was in line with Section 4(7)(a) of the Constitution, Section 1 of the Land Use Act Chapter 202 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 1990.

The Section states that all land comprised in the territory of each state in the federation are vested in the governor of that state and such land shall be held in trust and administered for the use and common benefit of all Nigerians in accordance with the provisions of the Act.

To this end, Gov. Samuel Ortom of Benue said it was in the spirit and letters of those enabling laws of the land that the Open Grazing (Prohibition) and Establishment of Ranches Law, 2017 was proposed and was judiciously enacted by Benue State House of Assembly.

Sure, they will import grasses for you, don't just worry yourself, go and sleep. NONSENSE

The day you contest this position, the beer sellers and brothel operators in the north would also contest the ban on their businesses.

If a fulani herdsman has a right to roam about the south with his cattle, I also have a right to open brothels and beer parlours in front of the palaces of all traditional rulers in the North.

You ingrates should be thankful that this law was duly passed. When they treated your madness at the Mambilla plateau, you cowards called the army to save you. Go there and roam your cattle na.

Just imaging the nonsense, just because Benue is in the north, why didn't the Fulani's threatened ekiti state?, public hearing was conducted in preparation to the enactment of this bill what stop the Fulani's from going there to present their case instead they forming "Kim Jung un" threatening everybody, the Fulani's could have asked the state government to establish grazing reserves while they use it n pay rent inevitably accepting that they are tenants with limited rights but because they are pursuing a wicked hidden agenda n hoping on buhari they erroneously believe they are untouchable.ekiti n fayose has set the pace for liberation it's now up to Benue,Taraba, plateau states to show courage n free her people now that the intentions of the Fulani's is clear, how the APC/ buhari federal government is going to handle this will be very interesting.
