What's worse,waking with a sore throat,a fever,a stuffy nose,or an ulcerated mouth.Well,all are equally bad and none can be picked over the other.But the worst of all is falling sick.This happens especially when you know fully well that you are taking good care of yourself.You sanitise regularly,you sleep 8-10 hours per day,youbeat healthy.You might be getting confused on why that sore throat or cold keep coming.But the good news is that it's not just bad diet or staying up late that depresses yoir immune system.
For example,many people don't realise that their emotions play a major role in their physical health.In a big city such as Lagos,the rate of stress is high,and this,in turn,affects the mental health of the population.To help keep you from doing things that makes you sick,i compiled a list of surprising habits that make you sick (No! checking on bobrisky is not there)


1)YOU ARE WORKING TOO MUCH
This is very common in Lagos.Many of us,come home late in the night,overcoming traffic, traffic agents and annoying bus drivers.But, that doesn't stop there,the children,additional working,church meetings.All these doesn't leave enough time to eat right,stay active or give the body and mind time to rest.


2)YOU ARE STRESSED
Our immune system depletes when we are stressed.As stress level increase,our body releases a hormone called cortisol which help the body in stressful situations.But this doesn't last,as immune system is weakened.This can be controlled by getting enough rest and generally, sleep.Also by taking frequent breaks.


3)TOO MUCH ALCOHOL
Alcohol have been known to have zero nutritional value.It lowers your white blood cells(WBCs)..WBCs fight diseases.It also dehydrates you and prevent absorption of important nutrients.


4)YOUR TV,CELL PHONES,TABLETS
Okay,we are all guilty of this,me also.When we are with our cell phones,especially at night.The light from it induces our brain to stay awake (it thinks it's the day).Studies show that production of hormone Melatonin reduces.This causes lack of sleep and eye problems.


5)YOUR MAKEUP KIT
Beware ladies,there are several stories of how women has gotten infections from using dirty makeup materials.In particular,dirty eye makeup kits is known to make you susceptible to pink eye,staph infections, and other infections.Use clean brushes on your face,and take note when the makeup expires.


6)YOU ARE NOT TAKING ENOUGH WATER
Everybody need water,your doctor needs water,your pharmacist needs water, your flower needs water.What makes you think you don't need water . dehydration can dry out skin,dizziness.It interferes with normal digestion and egestion.It can also cause constipation or urination problems.


7)SMOKING
At this point of our lives,we should know that smoking is horrible and not good for us . Smoking can cause respiratory disorders and deplete the immune system.For so many reasons avoid Cigarettes and marijuana.
