Yorubas are know for crowded living pattern and poor housing culture. Most of their cities grew from the merging and submerging of villagees and remote settlement over a period of time.

Lands in Yoruba areas like Ibadan and abeokutA are measure 60ft by 100ft or 120ft depending on survey plan but in Eastern part lie Anambra lands are measured 50ft by 100ft.

While yorubas are comfortable erecting bungalows while Igbos build mansions.

IN a plot of land(60*120) a yoruba man will likely build bungalow, those ibadan style buildings with passage in the middle while rooms are on both sides of the passage, toilet and bathroom are detached from the building at the back. Most of these buildings are less than 15 rooms mostly one room partitions. The owners are mostly yoruba Muslims whose one of the wives will be selling bread in front of the house, let's say Baba Ipaye .

Now in East, such land (50*100) will not be wasted on mud bungalows like they do in ibadan, a plot in East is expected to accommodate 3-5 storey buildings of double flats making it 8-12 flats of 3 bedrooms and a sitting room with toilet, bathroom and kitchen inbuilt.

Now if East should start erecting bungalows like yorubas do you think there will still be land available for farming?

First pics is ibadan
Second is Onitsha.

lol...ojuku...How dare you compare a piggy bank(Igboland) with central bank(Yorubaland). The size of your small enclave (Igboland)isalmost the size of OYO state, just a part in Yorubaland and 45 million of Igbos have not been able to develop this small enclave intoeldorado. In spite of your rituals, drugs peddling, baby factory etc and with your late civilization, you still have brown roofs in your small enclave. The singular evidence that Yorubas are richer than the Igbos, are their numerous massive industries, highest number of private universities, private colleges, real estate people,ICTpeople etc.Do not bedelusional and compare a smaller enclave filled with 3000 houses with a large area where1000000 houses are scattered all over.Do not be like Ojuku..

Igboland is a small room but still has brown roofs and slums ..pathetic,is the word.

What's wrong with the OP's post?
It calls for intelligent contribution and not insults.
South east is bigger than Rwanda, Israel, Gambia, Singapore, Luxembourg etc so why the noise on landmass.
Is Lagos not the smallest state in Nigeria yet contains over 20million people?
Why are big landmass states like Niger zamfara etc poor?
So shut up.
There is nothing intelligent about the OP's post, unless you did not bother to read it thoroughly. He/she was just using that post as an excuse to denigrate cities in the SW, and cast aspersions on those who live there. Please don't tell me that after going through this thread you could not spot his/her nefarious objectives? Okpoko, is a slum settlement in Onitsha, Anambra State, why didn't she mention that fact? Aba has one of the worst slums in the Southeast, from Ohanku Road area to Ariaria, yet she chose to ignore that bit and cast aspersions on other places. Here is an excerpt from an article published online.

The commercial city of Aba in Abia State used to be famous for the ingenuity of the locals. They copied and produced all manners of products. In fact, any product that was not made abroad was popularly referred to as Made in Aba or Aba made. Those were the days when the city was groovy.

Today, Aba, which used to be the economic capital of the South-East, is a failed city. Or so it seems. All the indices are manifest in the content and character of the city.

The moment you step into Aba, you will notice that the city is sick, terribly sick. The vibrancy and zest have been replaced by gloom and frustration because the city has fallen apart. Living in Aba is, indeed, a nightmare. To be condemned to reside there is living in bondage, it is living in a state of perpetual suffering. It presents a pathetic picture that can melt even a stony heart. You would not like to be in Aba when it rains. When the heavens open, the tears, pains and anguish of Aba residents flow like a river. When it rains, Aba becomes a floating city because their drainages are blocked where they exist.

To start with, it is often difficult to find a cab that will take you from Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Owerri, Imo State. The reason is not far fetched. A trip to Aba can take anything from five hours for a distance of far less than 100 kilometres. So, only the brave driver can embark on such a trip and the passenger must be ready to cough out about half of the air fair from Lagos to Owerri.

Coming to Aba from Owerri, you will begin to understand why airport taxi drivers avoid Aba like a flea when you get to KM 7 Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway. There, vehicles are easily buried in the gullies on both sides. When a trailer is trapped in there, commuters can be stuck there for several hours. On such occasions, some passengers alight from their vehicles and cross over to the other side and board another vehicle. But it is not usually as easy as that. The depth of the mud on the road is such that if you step out of the vehicle, it will swallow your shoes. So, before stepping out to trek, you must remove your shoes and fold your trousers to knee length. https://ynaija.com/aba-a-gallery-of-decay-see-disappointing-photos/

Shittting inside nylon is the trademark of yoruba women. They are mostly dark, fat and speak in hoarse voice which depicts masculinity. Those fat yoruba women like Iya Dotun and Iya Monsuru that sell ewa agoyin and guguru sometimes shiiit inside painter bucket if nylon is not within reach.
They will give the poo to their grandchildren to go and dispose inside gutter or Ogunpa river.

It is the thought of Yoruba race that will kill you. You carry the matters of others lori like kosinkan. If you develop heart attack for other matter no one send you.
If all our slums can give us more IGR, more living standard indices and produce world class leaders like Adesina then we prefer it. If our slums provides security and longetivity we are satistisfied.
On another lane, why would the Igbos run to the slums and live there while leaving the Paris of Nigeria (Aba).
The last I read
1. The most beautiful University is in the slum
2. The best hospital is the slumb
3. Most beautiful primary and secondary schools are in the slum
4. The best healthcare system in Nigeria are in the slums.
5. Best Profs in Nigeria are from the slum
6. First Nobel Laurel in Africa is from the slum
The slums have produced better things than glorified and best cities of Owerri, Awka, Uyo, Ebonyi, Yenogoa and others put together.

There is this guy in Kaduna, who has been going round media houses and abusing the government of Mal. Nasir El-Rufai that they are not doing unjust and are running a corrupt government.
The governor now asked his aides to look for the telephone number of this guy, who goes by the name is Jarfa. So, the governor called him and ask him to come to the government house, using Keke NAPEP, and added that he had already informed the security at the gate .
When he arrived, the governor welcomed him and gave him N200,000 to give to the Keke man and come back. He went out and gave the Keke man N2,000. On coming back, Mallam El-Rufai asked whether he had settled the Keke man, and he said, yes.
For those of you that know the Kaduna government house, it has two gates. The governor asked the securitymen to send back the Keke man. When he came over, the governor asked him if this man (Jarfa) had settled him, and he answered yes,). He further asked him, "how much did he give you"? "N2,000" he answered.
The governor now told him, "you see yourself from N200,000 to N2,000; you pocketed N198,000, only you! For that reason, if given the chance you will make Kaduna bankrupt but Allah knows best. You have lost a brand new car, see the key here;;;I was thinking you were an honest person, but your own is even worse. You can leave now!"

South East is bigger than Israel and Singapore combined but these two countries are one million times better than Nigeria.
So how does size count?

Oyo state alone is bigger than the 5 SE states combined yet igbos can't develop it.

Instead they board buses and run to SW in their millions. Such people can't stand anywhere near Isreal cos Isrealis are very conservative and they stay in their home.

Igbos on the other hand will never smell presidency cos they are now classed as minority. Anyone that will rule Nigeria must have massive support in the North and South (preferrably SW).

I met a water system in Ogbomosho way back 1979, when my dad took me to my grandma for long vacation.
I later went for secondary school education in Ogbomosho.
I don't remember seeing a house that doesn't have at least a LATRINE so what exactly are you talking about?.
I'm also privileged to have been to places like Awe, Iwo, some parts of Oshun state like Ile Ogbo, Gbogan and Ife axis and I still didn't see houses that were built without toilets.
People can choose to defaecate in the public especially in a crowded dirty environment, due to the unavailability of public toilets, as seen in dirty place like LADIPO and ALABA and other dirty places.
But, that houses could be build without toilets, that place is DEFINITELY NOT IN YORUBA LAND.
