PROFILE OF HON. ADEMOLA AKEEM IGE, MEMBER, OYO STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY, REPRESENTING IBADAN SOUTH EAST CONSTITUENCY II.

Alhaji (Hon.) Ademola Akeem Ige (a.k.a. Ige Again)) a grassroot politician to the core was born on 15th February, 1969 to the family of Ayelaagbe in Idiaro, Ibadan. Oyo State.

Young Ademola Ige started his education career at Christ Church Mapo Primary School IV, Elekuro, Ibadan between 1975 – 1981. He thereafter proceeded to Urban Day Grammar School, Orita Aperin, Ibadan for his secondary school education in 1981 and finished in 1986. Upon completion of his secondary school education, he went to Government Technical College, Osogbo, Osun State between 1989-1991 where he developed keen interest in Engineering.

In 1993, he got admission to the Polytechnic, Ibadan to study National Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering and finished in 1996. He also went back to the same institution in 1999 for his Higher National Diploma (HND) in Electrical/Electronics Engineering specialized in Power Option and completed his HND programme in the year 2002. He has professional qualifications in Federal Craft Training Certificate in Electrical Installation (College Diploma) in 1991 and Federal Ministry of Employment, Productivity & Labour Trade Test, Grade II & III E/1 (Domestic & Industrial Certificate). He also sat for City & Guild of London Institute and passed. He is presently undergoing his Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Public Administration at the prestigious Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Ogbomosho.
Before Hon. Ademola Akeem Ige ventured into politics, he had worked as a Director, Raymond Ige Technical Company, Bariga Lagos, Assistant Director, SAL Nigeria Limited, Ibadan in and did an industrial training programme at Association of Nigeria Cooperative Exporter, (ANCE), Jericho, Ibadan.
Hon. Ademola Akeem Ige has been holding political offices since the year 2003 when he was appointed as the Chairman Interim Management Committee, Ibadan South East Local Government, Mapo between September, 2003 – April, 2004. As a result of his overwhelming performance within the period as a Caretaker Chairman, he was elected as the Executive Chairman of the said local government between May, 2004 – May, 2007. After the expiration of his three years tenure, he was also re-appointed as the Chairman Caretaker Committee of the said local government again between June-September, 2007. During this period, he was the Board Chairman, Ibadan local Government Properties Company Limited jointly owned by the 11 local government areas in Ibadan land. His role to the youth development both within and outside the office was recognized during the tenure of the former Governor of Oyo State when the former Governor appointed him as his Senior Special Assistant on Youth, Sports and Social Development, the positioned he held between March, 2011-May, 2011.

Hon. Ademola Akeem Ige is presently a member of the Oyo State House of Assembly where he is representing the people of Ibadan South East Constituency II who elected him during the 2015 general elections against all odds then. He is the Chairman House Committee on Foreign Relations, member, House Committee on Local Government & Chieftaincy Matters, Youth & Sports, Water Resources, Culture and Tourism of the House.

Hon. Ademola Akeem Ige has used his position to impact positively on the lives of many people that come his way. It is on record that while serving as the Chairman of Ibadan South East Local Government, he employed no fewer than 350 unemployed youth that were indigenes of Ibadan (consisting of graduates and qualified professionals of different fields) spread across various departments and divisions which include Finance, Administration, Health, Agriculture, Estate and Valuation, Town Planning, Community Development, Information etc and they are still in active service. Today, about fifteen of them have risen to the post of Directors, Deputy-Directors and other senior positions.

Hon. Ademola Akeem Ige has also contributed in no small measure to the progress and development of the Ibadan social-cultural group, the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes. For instance, in the year 2013, he facilitated the visit of the members of the executive committee of Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) to Abuja to visit the FCT Minister of State, Oloye Jumoke Akinjide in 2013. The visit was very successful because it helped to facilitate the donation of (1) a-50 KVA industrial Mikano generator through the former Minister of State, Federal Capital Terittory, Oloye Jumoke Akinjide to the CCII. (2), the donation of a brand new Toyota Avensis to the office of the President CCII through the said former Minister.
Between June, 2015 till date when he was elected as honourable member, Hon. Ademola Akeem Ige has embarked upon laudable projects to better the lots of the people in his constituency despite the economic challenges and paucity of funds confronting the state government in recent time. He recently commissioned multi million naira independent power projects consisting of 63 poles from Eleta junction – Akatapa-Odinjo-Muslim over head bridge (phase I); 2nd phase from Eleta junction-Ile Tuntun-Oke Odo-Oke Oluokun Adegoke Adelabu (Penkelemesi) area-Ilupeju-Kudeti-Idi Arere junction and the 3rd phase from Orita Aperin junction-Adesola-Oniyere CAC-Budale link Ibadan/Lagos Expressway. He rehabilitated 8-room pit toilet into modern one for traders at Owode market, Academy, Ibadan; given financial empowerment to 100 women and widows to augment their trading activities, given financial assistance to victims of fire incident at various markets in Ibadan, construction of Tewogbade link Agbongbon community pedestrian bridge, construction of industrial motorized boreholes with generating set at Ojikutu/Oyapidan Area, Academy, CAC Oke Agbara road and Owolemi Street, Odo-Oba, Ibadan.
Others include the construction of an ongoing community health centre at Ifesowapo/Eyinni Orita Challenge, Adelabu Market area, Ibadan, provision of set of furniture and exercise books for first batch of over 2000 pupils in public primary and secondary schools in Ibadan South East Local Government as well as financial support to residents of Lagelu Estate, Felele and Adeyemo, Yejide, Bello, Eyin Grammar and Ajet area to construct community police stations among other numerous achievements.

Hon. Ademola Akeem Ige has been honoured by various groups and association in the past which include: outstanding Alumnus Award by the “Alumnus Association” of the polytechnic, Ibadan – 2005; Distinguished Sons of Ibadan Award by the Omo Ajorosun Club, Ibadan – 2007; Community Leadership Award by the Agbeni Ogunpa Community Bank – 2004; Outstanding local Government of the Year Award by the NUJ Oyo State Council – 2005; Best Local Government Chairman in Oyo State by Nigeria local Government Chairman Merit Award (LOGMA Abuja 2005; ECOWAS Grassroots’ Epitome of Democracy Award’ by “Intra Global Communications Network”,
Others include Good Ambassador Award by Ile Tuntun Oke Odo Progressive Forum, Award as the Most Vibrant Honourable in Constituency Development at the Prominent Oyo People’s Award organized by Cornerstone Media Concept, Yoruba Royal Icon Award by the Yoruba Council of Youths Worldwide, Oyo State Council, Award of Excellence by Association of Primary School Head Teachers of Nigeria, Ibadan South East Chapter, Oyo State, award of excellence by the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employee (NULGE), Ibadan South East Local Government chapter, to mention but a few.
Hon. Ademola Akeem Ige is married to Alhaja Adepeju Monsurat and the marriage is blessed with wonderful children. He has traveled to many foreign countries which include Republic of China, Ireland, South Africa, Canada, England and Saudi Arabia. His hobbies include interacting with people, reading and listening to music.
