I don't know the full backstory, but teachers should be banned from flogging students. It is not their right to touch anyone's child. It's an intellectually lazy, abusive way of addressing student infractions and misbehaviour. Many of the best schools in this country don't tolerate corporal punishment. I went to Loyola Jesuit College for 3 years and you dare not flog a student there. Yet, anyone who knows anything about Loyola knows the rigorous discipline applied to students and they have little tolerance for deviant behaviour. They don't need to flog anyone to do it.

That said, the perpetrator of this crime has to face the consequences of her actions.

who then is supposed to do the cleaning, the teachers? It's only expensive secondary schools that are able to afford the service of cleaners and gardeners. You don't get that in cheap private schools. Government school is the worse. Besides, some schools allow the student to clean as form of punishment or can also be regarded as trainee on the part of the student

Its true some of these teachers do the unthinkable but most of us grown ups did learn a thing or two from the strick discipline we got from schools and churches.

This is just a case of a child whose background is very faulty.

People like you are the real problem of our society today. sending your child to school is for him or her to be trained to become a better person tomorrow. you can not spare the rod and spoil the child. during my own time in school, i made ridges for my teacher and school, fetch water, sweep, wash and work in my teacher's farm. it did not take away anything from me rather it made me to become a better person. please if you dont want your child to be trained in school, keep him or her at home and feed him fat as you like. at least that will proved to the child how much you love him

spare the rod doesn't mean you should carry a rod and beat a child!

don't interpret the bible to suit you but rather read it to understand.

the rod of discipline literary means a strong will of discipline (though love of motivation, encouragement and to follow the way of the Lord) but not the other way round like beating a child to inflicts physical damage

you can punish a child and there are a whole lot of different punishment you can give that child instead of Beating!
