YouTube To Launch New Music Streaming Service Next Year

The tech giant Google’s well-known giant video platform, of course, YouTube is no longer a phenomenon that everyone tried to seek explanation to be part of our daily life and source of information and entertainment as well for a generation. Now, taking advantage of the end of the year and the traditional #YouTubeRewind, the tech giant Google’s well-known giant video platform, of course, YouTube recently revealed the list of most viewed YouTube videos in 2017.

However, now according to the latest reports, we might see another great music streaming service in 2018. Yes, I am talking about the YouTube Remix, which, as Bloomberg, a well-known media platform has revealed, maybe the tech giant Google’s third attempt to merge signatures on its video platform.

According to the magazine, YouTube Remix is due in March; the tech giant Google would have already partnered with Warner Music Group and would be talking to Sony Music, Universal Music Group and Merlin, a consortium of independent record labels.

YouTube Remix should mix some features of Spotify with YouTube itself, such as integrating music with video clips. Some artists would already have been contacted to help promote the new streaming service.

Apart from streaming videos on YouTube, the tech giant Googe’s well-known giant video platform YouTube is heavily used to listen to music as well: a study by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) shows that 85% of people who visited YouTube during the analyzed period listened to some music.

Creating a dedicated streaming service can also be a way to increase revenue for artists who make music available on the platform. The IFPI (International Federation of the Phonographic Industry) points out that the revenue per user on Spotify is $20, while that for YouTube is less than $1.

According to the IFPI (International Federation of the Phonographic Industry), 55% of people use streaming video services to listen to music (YouTube stands at 46%). The other 45% use Spotify, Apple Music and other specialized, paid or free services. This year (and the previous ones), clips dominate the 10 most watched YouTube videos, accumulating billions of views individually (Despacito already has 4.4 billion views).

Remix, by the way, would not be the first Google streaming service: Play Music, released in 2011, works until today “but, do you know someone who uses it?”. But the YouTube Music Key, charging subscription not to display ads, has been replaced by YouTube Red, which allows offline download videos and play music in the background.

Signs are not lacking for the service to be launched; Play Music and YouTube Red subscriptions are already unified. And last year, YouTube hired Lyor Cohen, a former Warner Music executive to better articulate the service dealings with record labels.
