The Chief of Policy and Plans (COPP), Navy Headquarters Abuja, Rear Admiral Henry Babalola said it is a thing of pride to attained the rank of Commodore in the Navy, adding that there are a few women that have achieved such height.

He noted that going by her resume the Nigerian Navy exposed her to a lot of courses and training during her career, capping it up with the prestigious MNI.

Commodore Malafa noted that she is the first female of northern extraction to be promoted to the rank of general in the Navy.

She said the promotion inspires her to be more loyal and dedicated in her duties to the Navy and Nigeria.

Commodore Jamila Malafa was born in 1965 in Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa state.She joined the Nigerian Navy in 1988 and was Commissioned as midshipman in 1990.

It baffles me when the children of the influential ones get appointment or employment in a parastatal of their choice even when there is no vacancy outside for such appointment or employment, just like the first son of sanusi lamido sanusi, the current emir of kano has just been commissioned into the Nigeria police recently after the completion of his first degree in UK and Arabic studices from Saudi Arabia at the time when NP never displayed any recruitment vacancy out there. Was he the only one recruited or the space was reserved for him till he finished his education.
