Onitsha has overtaken enugu and all the SE cities. Obiano embarked on meaningful projects like the international airport, international convention, flyovers, bridges, roads, etc, today Anambra is the most developed state in igboland. Anambra international airport has reduced enugu airport to an ordinary motorpark. That's why you are always bitter and envious. Timid frustrated nwa nsukka.

Anambra has developed above all the states in igboland with the best urban and rural roads. Now Soludo is improving on that so that Anambra shall continue to remain on top. Presently waste is being collected in Anambra door to door, while enugu is Presently over run with waste, garbage dumpsites, dilapidated roads, etc. Anambra is the America of igboland, that's why millions of enugu state people particularly nsukka people don't know any other home than Anambra. Poverty rate in enugu is over 60%, enugu people enjoy in other states what their backward useless worthless state cannot offer others. Presently enugu is a failed state. Ugwuanyi is about to complete his tenure but has nothing to show. Enugu people plays clanish and village politics, no wonder they keep electing ediots like gburu gburu.

What about Oba old road Nnewi that people post that it is in bad shape. Infact the video showed clearly that the road is in bad shape and it is a busy road. Soludo should place his priority right.

You can't have road of great importance and turned blind eye to it. That road is a short span road that can be fixed as fast as possible.

This is the reason I am not 2 flattered by Peter obi’s presidential noise. The man did Anambra bad by installing Obiano as gov.

I think you are right. Obiano's projects particularly the Anambra international airport, Awka international convention centre, flyovers, etc, have brought out the hidden beast and envy of these people.

These are the same people that would have been ridiculing Anambra right now had it been that Obiano wasn't brave enough to deliver on this important projects. Today, Anambra international airport is the busiest and best airport in the region. Awka international convention centre is equally the biggest and best convention facility in the region.

I so much believe that Soludo would do even more than Obiano has done. Anambra shall continue to be the light of the nation.

SOLUDO FLAGS-OFF ROAD CONSTRUCTION IN ANAMBRA, INAUGURATES NINE OKPOKO ROADS, MMIATA ANAM-NZAM ROAD

By Christian ABURIME

"Anambra will become a massive construction site after the rainy season". These were the words of the Governor of the State, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo regarding infrastructural developments in the state, particularly roads.

In keeping with this commitment, the Governor flagged-off construction of nine roads in Okpoko and the Mmiata-Anam-Nzam road which has two bridges. This is in tandem with his administration's promise of building over two hundred and twenty (220) kilometer of roads across the state, before the end of this year.

And it is also part of what Governor Soludo promised in his manifesto- to build more roads as well as modernize and maintain existing ones with flyovers, bridges, pedestrians walk-ways. This will effectively connect more communities to the urban setting as well as boost the states' economic fortunes

In the State's 2022 revised budget, fifty four (54) billion naira, accounting for fifty (50) percent of the budget size, was dedicated for the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure for road constructions and maintenance in keeping with the present administration's Urban regeneration agenda.

The nine roads are; Obodo-Owerri Rd 5.77km, Oguagu- Ik Onuorah-Anumudu-Mgbuka- Amazu-Owerri Rd -2.97km, Edeh Road-School rd-Awalite - Ojoto-Owerri rd 1.48km, School rd- umuobom Street-Ojoto Street Junction -0.58km and Umuobom st (Ojoto st Junction-Adazi ani st- Owerri Rd- 0.77km.

Others are Umenweke st (Obodoukwu Junction)-Umeojiakor st ( School Rd Junction)-0.58km, (Ojoto Junction)-Anumudu (Mgbuka Amazu Junction)0.99km, Uzii st- Mission st (Awaited Junction) 0.54km and Anumudu street (ik Onuorah Junction )- Gmi Rd- 0.38km.

Performing the flag-off at Okpoko, Governor Soludo said that the visit was his fourth time in Okpoko since the inception of his administration.

"What we have come for today, is the promise we made to you. Let me say this very important thing. When I ran for governorship, there were three local governments I transversed, and the images I saw kept haunting me."

"These local governments are; Ogbaru, Anambra West and Awka North. I couldn't believe that there were still places like this in Anambra. I made up my mind that these Council Areas would feel the impact of government. The rainy season is almost over.
Every local government would feel our impact." Governor Soludo said

"We must give life to the population in Okpoko, because they are also part of Anambra. We are conducting a study on how to provide water in Okpoko. Okpoko will rise. We will move together." Governor Soludo reassured

"We are looking for a space for General Hospital. We are also looking for a recreational ground within Okpoko. Life will come here." Soludo further said

The Governor also reassured the people of the durability of the roads "The roads that we are building, the design is done in such a way that it will be strong as we have made the contractor to sign an undertaking that the roads will be durable for at least 20 years.

The Governor revealed that about 3 kilometers of the Okpoko road will have a pedestrian walkway, while also tasking Okpoko people to keep their surroundings clean at all times

"We will start a different campaign of cleaning the drainage systems. Set up a community watch by yourselves, to set an example for others to emulate." The Governor concluded.

The 11 kilometer Mmiata Anam road which has culverts and one bridge, which is 70 meters into the road spanning 120 meters.

When completed, the road will be highly beneficial to the Community and environs which is usually flood-prone.

The road will also boost agro-economy of the area in particular and Anambra State in general, as the people are well known for rice production, fish, yam, vegetables, potatoes, among others.

Also, when completed, the people will no longer ferry their products to Edo and Delta

The Governor added that Phase 2 of the project will be the remaining 1.7 kilometers to the local government headquarter, while the Phase 3 will be to embark on the Onono road if Kogi state agrees to a partnership. When all these phases are completed, traveling to Abuja will be roughly three hours.

He stressed that if achieved, Anambra West will become the gateway from Anambra to the North, noting that fifty percent advance payment will be paid to the contractor before the project commences.

The Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ifeanyi Okoma revealed that the project is the first road flag-off in Anambra by the Governor, revealing that the present administration will construct 14, 053 kilometer of roads in Okpoko.

According to the Commissioner for Works, Engr. Ifeanyi Okoma,
"Anambra was created 31 years ago amidst jubilation, since then no road has gone into Nzam. It gives serious concern to the Governor. By January, the road would have been completed".

The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Tony Collins Nwabunwanne said that the present administration honours promises, pointing out that Governor Soludo being an economist, he is someone who plans all he does with great success rate

"As a major food basket of the State, we will use this opportunity to produce more food and serve Ndi Anambra", added the Commissioner.

For the Member representing Anambra East and West at the Federal House of Representatives, Chief Chinedu Obidiegwu who recalled Governor Soludo as saying that Ogbaru, Anambra West and Awka North are the most marginalized local government areas in the state, prayed God to make him succeed.

The site's certificates were formally handed over to the contractor at the event by Governor Soludo himself, to signify the importance of the project to the State

Obiano: The unsung hero of Anambra
FIVE clear months have slid by since Chief Willie Obiano signed off as Anambra State Governor. Everywhere is quiet. It now seems like a very long ago that Akpokuedike left office. And that has great signification.
In the first place, the last five months have shown the level of mischief and malevolent attacks spewed by career politicians against the former governor. Second, it is now apparent that Chief Obiano came into office with a missionary zeal to serve Ndi Anambra with a singular mind. Third, history has shown that Obiano did his work without any calculation for his future political relevance.

Obiano must have adopted the Jesus model as his leadership template. Recall that the scriptures said of the Christ, “As a lamb led to slaughter, he opened not his mouth.” Obiano’s voice was not heard, either to blow his trumpet or deflect the media attacks on his person and administration by cold and calculating politicians.
Not being a politician, Obiano incurred the wrath of career politicians and opportunists, who wanted to exploit his perceived naivety to pillage the state’s treasury. With their eyes on treasury looting, some of those aggressively antagonising the former governor were used to merchandising of political opportunities. But Obiano would have none of those shenanigans.

Many people must have forgotten that Anambra was a state, where political godfathers sought and got irrevocable standing payment orders for unverifiable jobs, just by being connected to party leaders. But Obiano disappointed this calibre of political saprophytes, who hang around the corridors of power to peddle influence and fables.

The career politicians failed to recognise Obiano as a different kind of public servant, whose stint in the banking industry made him a stickler for probity and due process. The fact that the former governor worked with blue chip companies, including a spell at Shell Petroleum Development Company and two top flight commercial banks before becoming the governor impacted positively on his mandate delivery.

As a top flight auditor and risk analyst, Obiano knew that he was accountable to the people whose mandate he held. Therefore, he focussed on his job, working assiduously for Ndi Anambra and not with a mindset affected with cares about his political future. As such, he clearly earned the sobriquet, ‘Willie is Working,’ which was how he was addressed by the end of his first term.

It was on account of this singular determination to focus on the mandate of governing Anambra that Obiano was able to deliver quality projects of monumental impact on the socio-economic development of the state. Given that he was not using his office as preparation ground for further political ambition, Obiano’s administration was perceived as winking in the dark.

Unlike many of his peers, the former Anambra governor did not celebrate his successes on the pages of newspapers or other media of public communication. He tended to believe that Anambra people and God that he serves would always see, feel and appreciate what he was doing. Needless to say that political jobbers and merchants took advantage of Obiano’s absence in the media to weave the erroneous narrative that his administration was steeped in frivolities and wanton expenditure.
However, five months after Obiano left office, everything is becoming clearer in the eyes of Ndi Anambra. The media attacks and false narratives have ceased. The man’s works are speaking for him, as he enjoys his peace and rest. In what could be described as a show of public acknowledgement, Anambra people have come to the inevitable conclusion that “Willie was truly Working.” For instance, on the occasion of his 67th birthday recently, a socio-cultural organisation of Anambra professionals, known as Anambra Development Union, recounted some of the many silent achievements of the former governor.

According to ADU, while in office as governor, “Obiano delivered many impactful projects and programmes that have continued to serve as reference points. The group noted how Obiano established the first first digital databank for Anambra farmers alongside an active situation room for progress monitoring and evaluation.”

The President, Alex Osaemeka, and Secretary, Chukwuka Udeokeke, stated that the introduction of Anambra rice, as well as the state’s brand signature with a new anthem, logo, core values and colours, marked Obiano out as a visionary and empathic leader.

Praising the Anambra rice brand, which has been described as the best in Africa, ADU declared, “It is gratifying to note that Obiano did not make much noise about his achievements while in office. As we celebrate Akpokuedike today and for many years to come, may we never forget that His Excellency tarred over 1,000km of roads in the state, was first in integrating social media and e-Governance, and was the most tolerable to rants, attacks and insults that come with leadership.

“His Light-Up Anambra initiative reinvigorated nightlife in the state, creating a 24-hour economy. He built the International Convention Centre in Awka, bequeathing the state a world-class conferencing and events centre. He restored the dignity of our traditional institutions by putting a stop to the random arrest and detention of monarchs by the Nigerian police, in addition to providing all of them brand new Innoson vehicles.

“By making Anambra the first state in the South East and second to Rivers in Nigeria in the Fiscal Sustainability Index, Obiano remains the state’s unsung hero. With that singular feat in FSI, the former governor out-performed Lagos, Kano and 32 other states, just as he was able to offset N1.8bn of pension arrears, while maintaining regular monthly payment of salary, in line with his promise to deliver on physical and human infrastructure.”

Anambra people are now waking up to the realisation that Obiano is an unsung hero. The former governor upheld his fiduciary responsibility to Ndi Anambra as the highest esteem of his office, thereby engendering trust in the government!.

With a focus on the long term economic viability and social sustain ability of Anambra, the Governor, in 2019, inaugurated the Anambra Vision 2070 Committee, with Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo as chairman.

Perhaps, Obiano’s insistence on supporting former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Soludo, to succeed him was the epitome of his altruism, patriotism and desire for the best for Anambra. No wonder they call him Akpokuedike, a dependable protector. Indeed, Obiano comes up as a trustworthy champion.

Once you cross over from Oji River to amansea via old road, the difference is like light and darkness

Willie drank the development meant for his Anambra east pple where he comes from. He couldn’t fix most of the roads in that place and better the lives of pple in that area. Now the need to develop is now a hanging weight on Soludo. When some of his otimkpu boys come on this thread to talk nonsense i laff. Willie was and will forever remain an 8yrs disappointment.

Onitsha 2nd Niger bridge has placed Onitsha as a major international city, because there will be easy accessibility to the city via two major 10 lanes superhighways(1st and 2nd Niger bridges), water transportation and an international airport just 15mins to Anambra international airport.
Go and reconstruct Atani road. It can even be dualized. A lady fell off from Keke inside potpoto around Rainbow hotel due to bad road. Continue fooling around with empty chest beating. Aba has over taken Onitsha in inner city roads and waste management

Obiano will forever have the big F9 to his name.

Whosoever gave Peter Obi A1 as regards development in Anambra is a fool. He should have had a C6 or a D7

Flyover and convention center are white elephant projects. Mention one important event at Awka ICC, front of the ICC is unpassable potopoto filled road. Money wasted on unnecessary flyover could have extended reconstruction of the expressway to the boarder. Make una de learn prioritization of projects

Anambra state seems to be carrying a curse that for years all men who have served as governors of the state couldn’t fix up the glorified villages they call cities. Check out onitsha, oka,Nnewi no meaningful developments,All looking like pigstys

I noticed that the mountain of refuse dump which oozes a killer stench along obodoukwu road has reduced, but didn't disappear completely. Soludo, if you or your aides are following this thread, you can do better. And huge refuse dump is gathering along the highway, an eyesore defacing the beautifully constructed urban highway
