A skyscraper city is coming to Anambra within the next ten years and it is not even around Onitsha. It is around Ozubulu-Okija axis.
Onitsha will get few scrappers in few years time but it won't be like the new city

Umunnem daalu nu ooo
Firstly I like Obianos ambition, while he is still governor and in company with air peace chairman should go to Brazil and talk to the company and outline benefits and incentives we will offer them when they comes...going to their embassy without talking to the company first is not proper..

The governorship candidate Soludo to me is a good choice but when I heard his speech on his plans for Anambra it basically lacked content

I would equally support the American doctor but his party (PDP)and although he later explained his earlier speech then... His content is better than Soludo.

Any news on our River port concessioning? Any word on Aviation fuel by orient petroleum probably because is still in tussle...

Any word on the big tower hotel that will sit closer to the ICC Awka?

I thought free trade zone would be added close to the Airport any word on that?

Jisie nu Ike umunnem!

There are plans to develop a skyscraper district on an island just off the shores of Onitsha situated in the Niger River, here are the details.

Anambra needs its own Major modern citiy designed from the ground up with 21st century technologies and lifestyle.

If Enyimba economic city comes to fruition in the next 10 years. The economic miracle of onitsha, awka and nnewi will be challenged because businesses will prefer to go to well planned area with guaranteed 24 hour electricity for manufacturing.

Before anyone here misinterprets me, I don’t believe in zero sum game. I believe that Onitsha and Aba are both positioned strategically to serve different large markets and they both will propel the rapid modernization of Igboland.

Strong lobby on to get Brazil’s Embraer locate Africa service centre in Nigeria’s Anambra State

The Willie Obiano administration in Anambra State, with few months to its exit date in November this year, is pushing up a partnership deal with Air Peace, West Africa’s leading airliner, to format its incoming airport at Umuleri, by getting Embraer Corporation of Brazil, the world’s fourth largest civilian aircraft manufacturer, to locate a service centre for all of Africa in the state.

Details of the state government’s move have not yet been made public. Governor Obiano has since last year been in talks with the Air Peace founder, Allen Onyema, to lure the Brazilians into siting a service centre at the Anambra International Cargo Airport at Umuleri, which may be inaugurated later this year.

Strong lobby on to get Brazil’s Embraer locate Africa service centre in Nigeria’s Anambra StateAt the delivery last week of Air Peace E195 –E2 in Lagos, Onyema had appealed to the Brazilian Embassy in Abuja to advise the Embraer Corporation in Sao Paulo, to seriously consider building a service centre in Nigeria to cater for the African continent. The brand-new airplane, registered as 5N-BYF, is the first of 13 Embraer aircraft ordered by the airliner for its African regional routes.

According to C. Don Adinuba, the commissioner for information and public enlightenment, Governor Obiano had told a virtual discussion with some members of his administration working on the project that: “As the first carrier in Africa to purchase Embraer’s E series, which is the latest, Air Peace, with our support, is in a strong position to lobby the manufacturer to bring such a centre to our state.”

The Anambra international cargo airport, with 3.7 km runway and an 11-storey terminal building, pushing off as Nigeria’s second biggest airport, after the Lagos’ Murtala Mohammed, is designed to accommodate at least one hanger to service different kinds of aircraft, according to Ben Chiobi, a former Nigerian Air Force pilot, retired air force Air Vice Marshall and special adviser to Governor Obiano on creative security.

Chiobi, who also used to be a military attaché at the Nigerian Embassy in Paris, France, is among Obiano’s team working to realise the airport before his tenure’s expiration in November.

In August last year, when he visited the airport, an impressed Onyema said his Air Peace airline company would build a hanger there.

“If Air Peace builds a hanger here, and Embraer follows suit with an African service centre, the vision of building this modern and large airport on a very large swath of land will have been realized,” stated Governor Obiano, who described Onyema as currently the greatest promoter of private diplomacy in Nigeria.

Obiano said the Air Peace chairman, with the acquisition of the new airplane from Brazil, has shown that one needs not be in government or hold any public office to effectively promote the interests of one’s country; and has boosted Nigeria’s reputation in places like South Africa, the United Arab Emirates, where Air Peace flies into, with plans to start flying into the United States, India, Israel and the United Kingdom shortly.

He said his administration didn’t set out to build just any airport, but a strategic one that will help boost traditional commerce in the state and beyond; resulting in technology transfer and transformation of the state’s economic landscape.

Anambra, a state with bustling commerce, and travelling population, has a GDP of over N4.2 trillion.

When we raised alarm over unavoidable collapse of heap of sand at Kwata junction and Aroma junction constructed by Willie Obiano in the name of flyover, sycophants called us names. The picture attached is the death trap at Aroma junction.

Today, those sandfill flyovers are cracking and gradually collapsing as predicted. While Wike of Rivers state, Umaih of Ebonyi state, and Ganduje of kano are busy constructing quality flyovers for their people, Obiano constructed a death trap for his people at Awka. A flyover suppose to ease traffic, but that of Governor Obiano is obstructing free flow of vehicular movement at Aroma junction, as a result of the barricade they mounted on the substandard flyover against heavy duty vehicles. The death trap is still cracking and shaking, despite the fact that they barricaded heavy duty vehicles from using it from day one.

Is Ebonyi state richer than Anambra State? Why is the governor doing quality and gigantic projects than that of Anambra state?

This is obviously not a structural issue. It is likely a case of vehicle that hit that wall. Flyovers in Awka are structurally sound and is been serving its purpose for years. You people should stop playing politics with every damn thing, we have seen flyover have major structural crack but not this particular.

That fissure in the structure doesn’t look like it’s caused by the impact of a vehicle! The structural integrity of that flyover is suspect!

When I say structure, I was referring to the sub structure which is carries the entire structure. In this case the sub structure which is the fundamental is not the problem here.

Anambra government will need to learn how to carry out bidding process and how to better structure contracts. The cheapest is not always the best.

Just doing things just so people will say you did it is not how to govern. Look at all the roads okorocha built in Owerri have mostly crumbled. We really need to do away with mediocrity in this 21st century. It’s very annoying and tiring

It’s a penny wise...pound foolish approach to project delivery, because at the end of the day you’d end up spending more to fix the problem than you would have spent using a qualified contractor to begin with!

It’s gratifying to see Obiano seems to have learnt his lesson as he’s using qualified contractors to build the Anambra int’l airport.
