I congratulate our School, St. John’s Science and Technical College, Alor for emerging as the champions on the just concluded 2021-Society of Petroleum Engineers’ Catch Them Young Competition on Artificial Intelligence, organized by Society of Petroleum Engineers Section 103 Port-Harcourt (South-South and South-East), sponsored by "Total & Shell Oil Companies". Our Student, Udedibia Joshua, with his team produced a robot that obeys voice command. Entries were thinned down to 18 schools from South-South and South-East. Further assessments were done and still thinned down to 5 schools, and our school emerged as the winner at the finals. I thank the management, the staff and the students. I pray that the future achievements may be greater than the past.By ARCHBISHOP V.OKEKE OF ONITSHA

Admittedly, Obiano did few things to improve our education sector but I was expecting a more robust and aggressive investment that will build upon what the previous administration had done and that by now Anambra education standards would have advanced so as people from other state will send their children to Anambra to school. There are many ways we can raise our budget without being overly dependent on federal allocation. Governance is continuum and the more you invest in a particular sector the further you strengthen it and make it more attractive to people from other states who would pay good money for a decent education.

Today , Nigerians are trooping to Ghana in droves to get a good education and we could cash in on this and be that destination. All we need is to keep training our educators to meet world standard knowledge , pay them better and just generally keep improving our infrastructures like running water , security(trained personnel not vigilantes) , better roads especially around school premises. With quality education we can become even more richer and reinvest.

Yes. Ghana started by developing a reputation with existing public schools. University of Ghana Legon is quality. Contrast with Anambra State University. Look at the state of Amaku which is supposed to be a teaching hospital. Then Ghana is safe and things work unlike Nigeria in general.

The state needs to put basics in place for service based businesses to function well. You cannot operate a state with agbero or trading mentality. Service sector requires functional infrastructure, cleanliness, safety, law and order and good communication. A place attracts the kind of people its environment is built for. If you want high calibre people to live in Anambra one should ask would they enjoy Onitsha packed with raw, street types or Awka where keke and hawkers congest the roads?

Demonic night owl, always spewing incoherence. Now you are running to Ghana prepare to run to South Africa soon.

Anambra is the best state in igbo land with the best human capital resident in it.

People from Imo, Enugu, ebonyi and all parts of eastern region run to Anambra for better life and greener pasture. Anambra cities equally attracts the highest and best human capital than any other state in the region, that's why the state has the highest population in the region.

All of Anambra from Awka, Onitsha, and all of the hinterland of Anambra has the best infrastructures in the entire east. That's why everyone from all other eastern Nigeria are running to Anambra to live and better their lives. Anambra is to the SE what Lagos and Port Harcourt means to the yoruba people and Niger Delta people respectively.

Lest I forget, Anambra equally has the best schools, best hospitals, best talents- in sports, entertainment, ICT and tech in the entire region. That's why Anambra students are winning laurels all over the world, something no other Nigerian state have been able to achieve such feat.

Lemme also remind you demon(mktinsight) that Anambra has the best airport in the SE, which is now the international gateway to the eastern Nigeria.

Mktinsight your evil demonic thoughts can never change anything about the progressive Anambra. You can never have your demonic way on this thread.

Anambra is truly the best and light of the entire black race. cool

This is great!

I pray they also finish the Tailoring cluster they are building beside the shoemakers. In many ways, Obiano has transformed Anambra. We see only the big things like building the longest bridges in the SE, roads to new areas, the airport, flyovers and international conference center, etc.

But the real Obiano genius in the transformation of Anambra economy are little things like this shoemakers and tailoring hub, new Agu Awka International market, agricultural transformation agenda, small business support loans etc.

Does anyone know if they have marked the parking lot and the internal roads within the airport? I was informed by an Awka vlogger that they have completed the tarring of the entry and exit roads from the gatehouse to the terminal building. But had not marked the road or the car park as of 2 days ago.

My only concern sometimes with IDC is that they often have the same mindset as Nigerians. If they gain a paltry N10 kobo for leaving a piece of the job undone, they think 10 kobo is enough to justify a bad reputation on their corporate name. This is why i "hope" so much in my submissions as someone observed.

Since sometimes, finishing a job to a conclusive end is often a feat for our people. If a car park can contain 750 cars when well marked, it will contain only 200 cars if you leave it unmarked. As people will park in a crazy way. Thus the purpose of investing in a big car park to contain 750 cars for everyone to have adequate parking space is defeated. Simply due to lack of proper marking of each parking space! Hopefully, they try to replicate the car park in the 3d design including planting esthetic trees & flowers in the open spaces to beautify the car park environment. The same goes for the internal roads within the airport if they are merely built and not properly marked and beautified as done in sane societies.

On the April 30th after the test flight, the governor named IDC as having done the taxiway and the car park.

Also, it appears Kanubeen doing the main access dual carriageway were asked to extend their perimeter to also cover the entry and exit roads from the gatehouse. That is why you will see that IDC asphalted the car park, but left the road to and from the gatehouse undone. If you watch the video of the governor's visit on April 24th, you will see where the governor was asking Kanubeen representative to tar the entry and exit roads from the gatehouse by Tuesday (April 27th) prior to the April 30th test flight. Unfortunately, they didn't meet the target.

I think the internal roads handled by Craneburg are only the ones from the fire station to the runway, and from the Control Tower to the terminal building. It looks like they have completed those roads and the roads are of excellent quality with the drainage gutters on both sides.

Ihiala LGA Is Strategic To My Visa Economy Plan - Nonso Smart Okafor

- Seeks Support Of Party Members

Hon. Nonso Smart Okafor has promised he will leverage on the immense opportunities and potentials lying within Anambra to build a Viable, Independent, Secured and Advanced economy in the state.

The Governorship Aspirant made this known while intimating the entire wards and L.G.A executives of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in Ihiala Local Government Area of his desire to become the next Governor of Anambra State.

Speaking to party members, Nonso Okafor said that if given the opportunity, his administration will use resources in the state to better the socio-economic life of Anambrains, revealing that his policy document is homegrown.

According to him, Ihiala L.G.A is very important in his desire to build a VISA ECONOMY in Anambra especially with its proximity to Owerri, Nnewi, and Onitsha.

The lawmaker noted that apart from road infrastructure, one of the ways to trigger the economy of Ihiala is by resuscitating Oseakwa deep seaport on the Ulasi River that is linked to Osemoto Oguta River, Imo State, which is believed to be the deepest River in Nigeria.

He said that although His Excellency, Governor Willie Obiano has built an airport, the truth remains that Anambra needs a functional seaport to boost businesses in the state. He also said that with the ongoing 1500MW Gas Power Plant currently being developed in Okija, Ihiala is strategic to his plan.

Soliciting for support of potential delegates in the Local Government, Nonso Smart Okafor encouraged them to consider him, noting that he is better positioned to win the election and deliver as Governor, than most aspirants in the party.

On their part, the Chairman of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in Ihiala Local Government, Hon. Chigozie Chukwudum, speaking on behalf of party members in the L.G.A acknowledged the capacity and competence of Hon. Nonso Smart, promising support of the L.G.A.

Anambra International airport terminal building is beautiful. Currently one of the most beautiful in Nigeria but the car park spoil everything.... Apart from being so close to the terminal building, the car park did not meet international standard. I expect Gov. Obiano to give the car park a world class planning/finishing touches like the ones in the pics below. It will even make more sense if he build an interchange between the terminal building and car park where the interchange (flyover) will serve multiple purpose including adding to the beauty of the terminal building. Obiano is a traveller for crying out loud... He does not need a teacher to tell him all these because he must have been to many morden airport.

He should please upgrade the look of the airport to something world class. That car park is too local for Anambra international airport.

I think it is too early to judge the car park because work on it is still on going. The problem is the rush to open it to the public. It is a pity that we Ndi Anambra have found ourselves in a situation whereby building a small airport has become such a HUGE DEAL that people are even exaggerating it is the best terminal in Nigeria and killing themselves over it. A non Igbo person here in London told me that our over excited reaction to the airport shows how BACKWARD we are as a people.
I like the rendering of the interior of the airport and hopes it is translated to reality 100%. Finally, to me, it is just one other airport.

Stop spewing nonsense. Yes Anambra international airport is not a small project. Building an airport from the scratch: terminal building, tower building, 3.7km runway, fire building, 6- lanes airport roads, etc, all at ones is not a child's play. Show us one airport built by any state government in Nigeria that matches Anambra international airport in sophistication and beauty.

Ask that your friend to show us the one built by his state government, lets compare notes.

We don't care what you miscreants from other states thinks, but the fact is that this singular airport is the single biggest project in southeast since 1999. So we have to rejoice, if you don't like it, then take a hike.

The carpark is not close to the terminal building. There's a driveway/drivethru between the terminal building and car park. It is a standard international best practices and Anambra international airport strictly adhered to it.

Bushman this is not single biggest project in SE since 1999. The single biggest project is the second Niger Bridge valued at almost 400 billion Naira not this puny 400 passenger capacity local airport. The single biggest private investment in Anambra state was the Hero brewery in Onitsha.

All the people who criticize Anambra Airport always base their criticism on the terminal which is not yet completed. Its funny. You will never find them mentioning completed projects like control tower, runway, apron etc.. I wonder there next line when the terminal building will be completed.
Yes the Anambra Airport is a big deal. The SE is the only region without any standard international airport.

You are insulting him, but you can't cite a single project to dispute his claims. Mind you second niger niger bridge is a product of foreign loan and never will ever be completed . Moreover it is a federal project

My adoration of this Anambra airport isn't because it's the first state airport. But its the first project i have seen in Nigeria so far done at the highest quality and speed without indebting the state or making it such low quality because they didn't borrow.

Truly i was pleasantly surprised that Anambra state built an airport bigger than Asaba airport that took more than 10 years and more than 50 billion naira
