It was a wanton charade by UN. That election is a diplomatic misfire that should not have happened. U.S is a sovereign nation with right to move their capital and recognize any place in the world.

The vote against that decision is so useless that it will further show how weak UN has become. Nothing will happen to U.S and Israel. That decision of Trump stands.

America carries 22 percent of entire UN budget. If they withdraw that. UN will retrench staff for the first time in History. Humanitarian aid world over will feel the impact.

The vote was wrongly timed. Diplomatic reach out should have continued....see Nigeria wey dey beg U.S for military arms and support dey vote against them. Issoari
So we should all suck on Trump's c@ck just because he says so?.. The US and Israel are indeed sovereign nations just like the rest of the world..
Just because they pay 22% of the UN budget..the world should now jump whenever they feel like it,..life will still go on if there's no US today..
The World voted according to the dictate of their conscience and the ONLY ones having issues with it apart from Trump and his crony Netanyahu is the likes of you..nobody stops the US from moving their Embassy to Jerusalem..just don't expect EVERY OTHER NATION to tag along..

I am wondering why some people are hallucinating over a USELESS UN resolution.
Of what use is this resolution? Will it make US to change her stance on Jerusalem and Israel? NO!!
1. None of those that voted in favour of the resolution have their Embassies in Jerusalem. So, to me it is like you have not been eating meet. Then one day you wake up to vote that you do not want to eat meat. Meaningless, because you never ate meat anyway!
2. Those against; to them it is a wake up call to now move their embassies to Jerusalem just like Trump has instructed US to do. A huge win for Israel and US. Before this vote, thought werr that US was alone, now we know they have supporters.
3. Those that abstain are saying two things. We support US but just want to wait to see the turn of event. Or rather, we do not want to offend our Arab partners. Again to me it is a tacit support of Trump's move.

So what? Nothing changed!!!

On another note, small as Togo is, they are wiser and more courageous than Nigeria. Just wait and see how that country will blossom just for their support of Jerusalem as Israel capital.

Why would he abstain?

Because nigeria is secular state

Buhari can't pin his religious sympathy on every Nigerian. How do you think Muslims would feel if A Christian president like Jonathan had Done the opposite that is in favor of Israel?

So the best is to sit on the fence and abstain
Re: UN Jerusalem resolution: How each country voted by jeruzi(m): 7:50am On Dec 22, 2017
Christians are the ones who can reason the most in the world. They can analyse anything. See how Christian nations swaved in the face of test while the islmic nations stood together and got the support of other nations. This is a big picture of what is happening in Nigeria. When we say Christians arise, take action, some will say nothing is happening, it is political, yet buhari has gone to the UN to further his islamic agenda/belief. Someone will come here and tell me that I am wrong or an extremist, but won't see those who have keep enlisting Nigeria in Islamic organisations, and voted in favour of palestine against what Nigeria really stands for (a secular state).

This is an international issue which more sensitive on peaceful negotiations for the futuristic capital of Israel and Palestin.

US that supposed to be reliable mediator between aforementioned countries now become a country that is fanning conflict in the Middle East, to Jews is Jerusalem while Arabs call it Al - Qudus, both claiming ownership over it, Trump just made unilateral decision on it by declaring his Jerusalem as Israeli capital against the UN resolution of 1948 and 1967 of west Jerusalem for Israel and east side of it for Palestine.

This made most countries to vote against US decision in favour of Palestine as US was threatening other nations as it can buy their sovereignty. Trump's failure to observe that the world has moved from unipolar to multipolar era,

If all western and Eastern powers vote against US and Israel, so you expect Nigeria to against the wishes of many nations that supports Nigerian government on our needs.

US will rather lose most of her allies to Russia and others if she continue threatening more while UN will be financing by rich nations.

No need to be happy. America has recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital and it remains so. A UN vote against US decision does not carry much weight at this time. America is still the backbone of the UN.
Don't be deceived, US has fallen off the cliff. There are new world powers. Russia and China are there. US cannot do anything. The world has spoken. US and Israel are on their own.

what USA don't understand is that it's major allies which are NATO and her member nations almost voted against her. What happens when they cut aids and those allies closes their base against USA. Money isn't everything. South Korea may ask USA to vacate their land immediately USA cuts military aids and then America will feel the real threat from North Korea once Russia becomes the peace maker between the Koreans. U.S. withdrawing the support they give U.N. will be good news for China

A country with trillions of dollars lying uselesd will cover any hole trump wants to create, And it will increase China's influence and weaken that of the U.S.

They better not try it.

This vote is in order. Even if America vetoes it, the message has been passed that the world (well most of it) does not approve of it

If they still decide ti go ahead, good luck to them

Re: UN Jerusalem resolution: How each country voted by ensamy(m): 8:06am On Dec 22, 2017
United states alone is stronger that all the whole countries that voted FOR.
HISTORY:
Why did the league of Nations failed ? during world war 1 which led to the formation of United Nation organization UNO and then later UN.
When Germany was defeated in ww1 , thier colonies in Africa was shared by the allied which includes Britain, france, italy, spain excluding USA because US has started practicing the policy of ISOLATIONISM ie excluding USA from world Affairs.
Germany was given a fine of $600,000,000 to pay and reduced thier army, then the Rhineland was also taken away from them. These all led to serious economic crisis and the Weimar republic was formed out of this crisis. This crisis led to the rise of a young corporal that fought in ww1 by name Adolf Hitler.
He contested and won the post of a chancellor. After becoming the chancellor he rebuilt the German army, took back the Rhineland and stopped the payment of the reparation then set up the Nazi philosophy:
1. The aryan race was the superior race.
2. Anti semetism
3.At age 14 every boy must enlist into the military. etc.

The allied sent an ultimatum to Germany but it was turned down.
All the Versailles treaty was turned down by Hitler, he annexed Austria~Hungarian empire. All these led to the break out of world war 2.
France was the first to fall under Hitler.
The whole allied forces combined where loosing the war , until Japan who was a triple entente member with Germany went and bomb Pearl Harbour, U.S naval base, this eventually provoked the U.S to abandon thier policy of ISOLATIONISM and entered into WW2 in the side of the allied forces.
A Jewish scientist deported from Germany by name Albert Einstein came up with the energy equation E=mcsquare which was used to manufacture the first Atomic bomb, that was dropped in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, this led to the defeat of Japan and the Allied after landing in Normandy smarched Hitler's army at that front and the red armies of Russia smarched the rest. These led to the end of WW2 just because U.S.A came in.
Conclusion, all those countries that voted for are all nothing without the U.S. So Jerusalem is isreal's capital.
