The problem is not only with the clubsides but we as Nigerians.

We don't feel any need to watch our local players as patriotism is dead.

I doubt it is the quality of football at play but a mindset.

When we began to listen to our local music despite the quality the industry grew.
Oga person never chop. N.a. to.come pay transport go buy ticket to watch local match?

These clubs have the money to pay their players but they dont as we are fantastically corrupt In all sectors. These clubs all have an allocation from npfl for participating in the league. Also money from player sales tickets and t.v. rights like from supersport

Hi master zombie!

Well, let me ask you some questions.

1.Do you support a Nigerian club.

2.Is your club state owned or private?

3.How many fans go to watch home games? Do you think the gate fee is enough?

4.How much is your club budget?

5.By the way, this problem happened long before 2015.In 2013, NFF said clubs must pay base salaries of 150000 monthly. Most clubs said that they could not pay.Shebi it was Gej fault.

APC nor PDP get anything to do with how clubs run themselves. Most of them are badly run, lack innovation, etc.

6.Does your club sell merchandise?

We still watch the premier league and la liga.

Someone pays for it one way or another.

Agreed there's corruption in all sectors but we must make the attempt to correct it.

Should the stadium be filled week in week out, should sponsorship be obtained for each club, the players can embark on a work to rule until their welfare is taken care of.

We all have a role to play.

you don't expect short-sighted people to invest on things like that. An average Nigeria is an instant gratification zombie...

The problem boils down to poor mgt of these club sides... I remember that the only good thing Orji Uzor Kalu did when he governed Abia State was proper managing of Enyimba fc, the club rose to prominence when Ouk became the state governor. he transformed the club so much that the stadium was always filled whenever enyimba fc has a match....... I had to travel all the way from ph just to watch them play a match. funds were generated, players were well paid, he even rebuilt the stadium then, they made their presence internationally for the first time( i remember a friendly match was then arranged with inter milan), they also won the CAF champions league back to back.......... All these things aint rocket science, but proper management.

Keep praying alone and wait for God to come down to help you just as He came down to help the Europeans where Nigerian footballers are running to earn better money.
By the way, do you support any Nigerian football club and watch their games or you are glued to one of the clubs from the colonialist countries

Or is playing soccer the only means of sustenance in Nigeria? undecided....Resign and go join the Nigerian Army as a recruit and get sent to face Boko Haram bullets for a paltry stipend of basically 48k sad.....

Whether they get paid or not, playing in those teams gives those players the much needed exposure to other more developed and better paying teams in the world... No real soccer gem stays long in the gutter that's the present NFL because foreign teams are snapping them up speedily smiley

with this kind of thinking do you still wonder why this country is a mess?. Just for a second imagine if every football club or country have this same thinking, do u think we will come here to debate about pep & Mourinho or Chelsea vs Arsenal?

The problem with our football is that it is terribly oversaturated with all kinds of dubious characters and that is because of the money circulating through the global game.

I was listening to a local Nigerian footballer on the radio a few weeks ago and when he was asked what was his most valuable possession, he said it was his International Passport.

Too many young Nigerians are getting into football because they hear that Pogba is earning £ 250,000 a week, or that Victor Moses is earning 120,000 pounds a week. Their hope is that they will also earn such large money.

1.Let us say Otedola, Dangote or Innoson buys a club.

2.Money flows into club, and new players are bought, and construction begins on a befitting stadium.

3.One year later, popular side at the new stadium is now 3000 naira. VIP is now 30000 naira.

4.Nigerians hit the street to protest.

5.Meanwhile, salaries are being paid, because the club is being run like a business, but because of the masses, the state takes over again

6.And we are back to square one

And that's because the standard of living for the average Nigerian is very low......the blame still goes basically to the government

We definitely wouldn't be talking about this if we had a good government anyway.....

The only way NPFL can move forward is when club are owned by private sector so as for them to face it squarely as business

Nigeria just keep going backward not forward. Those who are running the country are not trying at all. Keep it up one of the days, the mass go vex and eliminate all those at the top; it just a matter of time.

Corruption of Nigerians has finished Nigeria. Corruption is a devourer that has devoured all our goodness and vitality and left us dying and unfortunately we are not able to do anything to corruption but corruption and the corrupt have done every evil against Nigeria. Truly I say unto you, a corrupt people is an accursed people. Woe unto us in Nigeria because we are wickedly corrupt. And more woes unto a corrupt and unjust people both leaders and followers
