This is very very untrue. If you compare the admission list of A.B.U to that of U.N.N, it is very apparent that the northern universities are even more liberal. Go through the names the lecturers in both schools you'll know the truth.

That's because there is a shortage of manpower in the North my friend.

This has being ongoing since 2005, or even earlier.

People just weren't paying attention. It's unfortunate though.
Even Saudi who can lay legitimate claim have a lot of foreigners regardless of their religion as major part of their work force.
In this case though, the rights of Northern Christians and those who don't bear specific types of names and are of northern extraction are being trampled upon.
Shame really, as mediocrity will still rule at the end of the day.

The Evangelical Church Winning All, ECWA, has alleged that higher institutions in the Northern part of the country, have been denying Christians admissions into professional courses.

The church also alleged that Christians have also been denied employment on account of their religion.

ECWA further expressed concern over the activities of Fulani herdsmen in the country with a call on the Federal Government to explain why no conviction had been secured against perpetrators.

These claims were part of the 10-point observations made by ECWA and contained in a communiqué signed by its President, Dr. Jeremiah Gado, and the General Secretary, Rev. Yunusa Nmadu, after its five-day Pastors International Conference, held at Bingham University, in New Karu, Nasarawa State on Sunday.

ECWA stated, “We have noticed with great dismay the negative happenings in our country, especially the northern part of this country. It is the issue of admission into universities and other tertiary institutions, whereby qualified candidates are refused entry on the basis of their faith especially into professional courses.

“This does not augur well for national unity nor does it promote the tenet of equity and fairness. Many Christians have complained and we see this happening in many universities and other tertiary institutions of the North. We challenge the federal and state-owned institutions to publicly publish the list of those offered admission.

“Closely related to this is the issue of employment, where again, many qualified persons are denied employment on the basis of their faith. As a denomination, we condemn these practices and call on the Federal Government to check these happenings as they constitute a grave threat to the unity of our dear country.

ECWA also threw its weight behind the calls for the restructuring of the country, describing the development as a “noble one.

“The recent call for the restructuring of our nation ‘Nigeria’ is a noble one. As an indigenous church, we are aware of the injustices that have created dissatisfaction among the Nigerian people. We believe that the only way to maintain our corporate identity, as one indivisible nation, is to restructure and promote equity and the enforcement of the rule of law.

“This restructuring might not necessarily be done in the way that people are suggesting; but we need a restructuring that is based on the foundation of equity and honesty where everyone is treated equally. We need to return to the ideals of our founding fathers so as to keep the nation moving.”

While also raising the alarm over the abduction and giving out of underage Christian girls into marriage by force to people “most times old enough to be their fathers,” ECWA called on the Federal Government to check the trend which it best described as “evil practice.”

It added, “The Fulani herdsmen emerged from nowhere and continue to unleash mayhem on innocent citizens in the central and other parts of this country. The silence of government in this regard leaves so much to be desired. It seems approval has been given by the government. If not, why has there not been any conviction in a court of law?

The claim may be true but am sure this is happening in other parts of the country. How many Muslim lecturer do we have in eastern universities.
They don't like going out of their comfort zones. The first question you should ask yourself is, how many Hausa muslims have you seen serving (NYSC) in the southern part of the country? Almost all my friends that we graduated together that were posted to the south all relocated back to the north. The only one that chose to remain back in Calabar was retained in the university of calabar. Not because he was "that" qualified but just to fill the federal character.

Because with the southern universities, even with your good marks, in most cases, you still need lots of money to secure your admission .
Where northern universities are collecting as little as 35k for tuition fee and an amount less than 10k for hostel, the southern unis collect much higher than that.

Very true.. i can attest to that. We number 1 to 40 Muslims in federal university dutse. And it is same situation in most Northern universities. We haven't been given a chapel for fellowship but they're currently in the last phase in the construction of the third mosque in the school. It's really painful and nothing is been done about it.

Is over 10 years that Muslims has be clamouring for a space to offer prayer at the Rivers State University of Science and Technology. Till this day not even an open space to offer prayer was granted

The church also alleged that Christians have also been denied employment on account of their religion.

ECWA further expressed concern over the activities of Fulani herdsmen in the country with a call on the Federal Government to explain why no conviction had been secured against perpetrators.

ECWA stated, “We have noticed with great dismay the negative happenings in our country, especially the northern part of this country. “This does not augur well for national unity nor does it promote the tenet of equity and fairness. No one can do anything to stop Christianity. Not even Buhari and his goons. We have more private universities in Nigeria and will establish more to train Christian professionals.
