Chief Afe Babalola is one of my great mentor and I have been to his farm on many occasions and I really love what I saw there, but if this article is true that he is the 2nd employer of Labour via his investment and effort on his farm, then its a very big shame on all the Ekiti indigenes! If Age Babalola can go to farm and invest in agriculture, who am I or who are you not to embrace farming! My advice for youth especially onlookers on Nairaland is this, dont just read the post here on Nairaland, take yourself on an excursion just to go see things as it is on ground for yourself! enough of the lip service agric patronage! 1 Like |

seunny4lif:Yes we pay tax but many evade taxes.Tax rate is low compare to other countries in Africa. For example value added tax is 5% in Nigeria whereas in Togo and ,Benin is 18% while outh Africa is 14%. Nigeria's vat rate is the lowest in the world (https://www.thebusinesspost.ng/economy/imf-tasks-nigeria-increase-vat) |

ultron12345:Yea.Tax to GDP ratio is just 6%. It is too poor. To worsen it, many Nigerians evade and avoid taxes. Most Celebrities who are models are not helping matters |

seunny4lif:Don't we have similar scenario in other African countries yet many still pay?. Why should Nigeria be different?. We have a long way to go in this country. Every one of us including the leaders need to change attitude. Many of our leaders steal because we allow them. They use tribalism and religion to divide us |

pauljumbo:. Imagine also that in every city or village that has a church, there is the pastor, the admin staff and a security guard if not more, depending on the size of such. Bishop Oyedepo has 2 universities, lots primary and secondary schools in major towns and cities across the country. You have not talked of people whose businesses depend upon church people, like church member owned eateries/snacks bar, beaders, tailors, Makeup artists etc. You need to visit TB Joshua's headquarters in Ikotun to see several hostels and motels developed to cater for worshippers. Each with their many staff. Meanwhile someone like daddy Freezer, an ordinary employee will sit in his 4 by 4 sitting room somewhere in Lagos and be typing rubbish in his tokunbo purchased iPad or whatever, claiming to be leading a revolution. Someone needs to get wise for good things 2018 by shutting up! 2 Likes 1 Share |

Mirand606: Worse still, he said the state government is the highest employer of Labour in Ekiti State. That is an indicator of a totally backward state. No wonder we continue to have issues with govt unable to pay workers salaries. Contrast that with Lagos state where the state govt only employ 1%. As you rightly highlighted how do such state industrialise? FYI, Universities either private or public cannot kick an industrialisation drive. They themselves struggle to break even and stay profitable. All the shops, side businesses in Universities is nothing compared to deficit-in-commerce that bedevils many of this states. Universities can only serve in a symbiotic relationship with industries and not drivers of economy IMO This is what people fail to realise when politicans come and tag some states as Civil servant's states. Fayose practically made no move to "diversify" the economy of the state, no noticeable progress in Agric for example. Afe Babalola University was never attracted to Ekiti because Ekiti provided an enabling environment, nor as part of Ekiti's plans to boost Education or commerce. 2 Likes |

This Fayose is a blockhead! What happened to the clownish poultry project he claimed to embark on during his first tenure?? Ekiti state known for production of yam can't even boast of any economic activities other than living on the schools existing there...smh! |
