Ekiti

Following the recent cult activities, which led to the death of two students of the University of Ado-Ekiti (UNAD), police in the state have apprehended two suspected cultists from the institution over their alleged involvement in the killing of the students.

The students were killed recently by cultists when they struck at Dallimore area of the town.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Mr. Mohammed Jimoh, who confirmed the arrest on telephone in Ado-Ekiti, identified the suspects as students of the UNAD.

But, the PPRO however revealed that the third suspect arrested in connection with the killing of the students, was a student of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Ado-Ekiti Satellite Campus.

The PPRO said that the suspects who were arrested at the Adebayo area of Ado-Ekiti were apprehended by a team of policemen following information from some members of the public.

According to him, a gun and a cutlass were recovered from the suspected cultists, adding that the suspects would soon be charged to court. It would be recalled that  cult-related clashes, which have been on the increase since the beginning of the year climaxed last week when two students of UNAD were hacked to death at dawn.

A parent of one of the victims was present as the hoodlums butchered her son and  her pleas did not deter the cultists, who axed the students to death right inside the family house at Dallimore area.

In a related development, the police have also arrested a member of an armed robbery gang, which has been terrorising Nova area of Ado-Ekiti.

The suspected robber was nabbed at a scene of robbery incident at around 2 am last Thursday by a team of policemen led by one Sergeant Damilola Samuel.

The police team called CP Crack Force stormed the scene of the incident and arrested Tope Alabi, a male who is suspected to be a member of a robbery gang.[/b]
