Yeah you heard me right? Even we at GistLivePro.com are not exceptional, you might be getting the latest news, gossips or their likes but it's still same story, no editing, not even topic title, let's use entertainment blogs in United States Of America, shoveling down to use MediaTakeOut.com as a case study.

One thing I love 'bout MediaTakeOut is the way they publish their stories, you can say they are biased/controversial but truly that's the way out in an entertainment blog. The way MediaTakeOut writes their own title is way different from other Entertainment blogs in the US, that's why people love visiting to read them not just because of the content but the title.

Here in Nigeria, even top entertainment bloggers who other upcomings are looking at up, will rush to celebrities social media accounts and look for their latest pics to publish online, how then do you except the others not to follow your footsteps, you will be seeing post like "Celebrity A Takes A Selfie With Dolpin" or something more stupid, the list is endless, but they do publish breathtaking stories but majority of their posts are from I.G and likes.

I didn't say taking pictures from gram is bad but you can make in way as asking a question. Celebrity A changes haircut, do you like it?, these are posts that demand an answer, it will your audience dropping their various comments unlike when you post Celebrity A Flaunts New Haircut, a word is a enough for the wise.

One for thing, Nigerians love controversial stories whether real or fake news.

How to be an Entertainment Blogger in Nigeria

1. Follow all the major celebrities in Nigeria, especially the controversial ones
2. Follow other blogs
3. Visit major news sites in Nigeria (Vanguard, Punch, SUN etc)

Entertainment is Nigeria is peculiar because no one really cares about digging for stories because, truth be told, very few people have the resources to do so. Bloggers just wait for a news to break on other platforms and they lift it and report it on their blog. Even the biggest blogger in Nigeria, Linda Ikeji is also guilty of plagiarizing and copying other blogs.

Entertainment in Nigeria is falling.

Entertainment goes beyond hip-hop, which is the only thing our industry is good for.
That auto repeat , change title nollywood is another rubbish, any what do I know, Nigerians are used to mediocrity as evident in their markets and traffic.

another issue is plagiarism. they copy themselves. in Nigeria you don't need many blogs coz what you see on blog A is what you'll find on blog B.

KimCuties, your grammar and syntax is atrocious. I could barely understand what you wrote because I was too busy struggling with wrongly placed commas and fullstops to focus on the message.

The Message:

Fact is a majority of bloggers are lazy. Only very few like Laila Ijeoma (flirtykaren) actually take time out to dig for news. I remember she broke the story two years ago that Ogbonna Kanu and Linda Ikeji's sister had been secretly dating for close to six months. She said she went to their gram and spent hours digging for evidence before finally publishing.

How many of you can spend time putting together an interesting story, complete with background information and pictures? The MTO you used as an illustration actually pay people to dig out juicy tidbits for them. Even if a story is trending, you can approach that same story from a different perspective, thereby making you post unique.

When lifting from major news sites like punch and vanguard, learn to edit out the unnecessary parts that are not directly related to the story instead of making us skim for relevant bits.

Let's talk about your language. It's horrible. Bloggers should master their language so as not to give us migraines.

The long and short of it is Nigerian bloggers are lazy, uncreative and unimaginative. QED

Lailai Ijeoma and Linda Ikeji only manage to produce 5% of their news content. The remaining 95% are copied from other sources.

basically llike most other self employed nigerians - artisans, tailors, mechanics. the same lazy , indifferent do the barest minimum attitude. whats shocking is that most of these bloggers are kids who should have enough energy to go the extra mile.

but they just want to hammer is all.

They look to Linda Ikeji for inspiration. Meanwhile what they don't know is Linda went to bed by 11 pm and woke by 4am, every day to catch the freshest news and gists. Her blog slid into mediocrity when she started hiring writers who didn't share her passion to write for her.

I will always use Laila Ijeoma as an example because this lady worked in a bank, has 3 children under 10 years and still managed to wake 4 am to start blogging. That's passion and dedication. You have to work hard to blow. You can't blow overnight as these kids are wont to believe.

Which are duly referenced. Many so-called entertainment blogs don't give credit to their sources. I've seen a punch article copied word for word on a blog without being credited.
