Political parties are recognised formal platforms for fielding political candidates and once the winner is sworn in, the influence of the party reduces significantly. That is why elected politicians easily defect from the same party on which platform they were elected (though contrary to what we read in text books)

Bringing out my past comments on the endorsement of the marauding fulani herdsmen of Buhari only buttresses my point, not yours. His endorsement by those blood suckers is a good sign of appreciation for a job well done.
