Ekeremor Local Government Area is one of the largest Local Government Areas of Bayelsa State. It was created in 1991 from the old Sagbama Local Government Area of old Rivers State. Upon the creation of Bayelsa State by General Sani Abacha in 1996, Bayelsa State has been dominated by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) till date.
Ekeremor Local Government Area is delineated into three (3) constituencies 1,2 and 3 whereby the position of Local Government Council Chairman is been rotated among the three constituencies. Therefore, the first elected Chairman of the Local Government Council was Deinghabofa Dimaro 1991-1993 from constituency 2, Hon. Oyinagonami Yinks Dumbo 1996-1997 from constituency 1, Barr. Dein Benadoumene 1997-1998 from constituency 3, Hon. Deacon C.F Enai 1999-2002 from constituency 2, Hon. Donald Daunemughan 2004-2006, Hon. R.J Ayakpo Etolor 2006-2007 who was later reinstated by a High Court, Sagbama on the 31st of July 2007-2009. Both from constituency 1, Hon. Julius Edi 2010-2012 from constituency 3 and Barr. Billy Tobiyei 2013-2016 from constituency 2. Definitely, it's the turn of constituency 1 to produce the next Local Government Council Chairman. Those who have been Council Chairmen from this zone includes Donald Daunemughan, Oyinagonami Yinks Dumbo both from Aleibiri town and Hon. R.J Ayakpo Etolor from Ayamassa town. The only area that has not produced a Council Chairman from this zone is Isampou and the communities in the hinterland of Aleibiri town. Isampou is the major community in constituency (1) that has not produced a Local Government Council Chairman. Therefore, Isampou Community has credible men and women to pilot the affairs of Ekeremor Local Government Area and Hon. Pst Franklyn Bideke is ready to take the saddle to lead.
