The 2nd batch of staff of the Federal University Ndufu-Alike Ikwo (FUNAI), Ebonyi State, who benefited from the international scholarship agreement between the University and the French Government through the embassy of France in Nigeria and Campus France, is set to leave for their respective world-ranking French Universities on Sunday, 11th February, 2018.
This hint was dropped by the Coordinator of the FUNAI – French Collaboration, Dr. Nnenna Nwosu-Nworuh when she led the beneficiaries on an appreciation visit to the Vice-chancellor of the university, Professor Chinedum Nwajiuba.

She noted that eleven staff of the university would be embarking on the journey to pursue doctoral programmes in different French universities and research institutes, stressing that on their return to the university after the completion of their studies, they would play pivotal role in revolutionizing teaching and research in Nigeria.
In her words: “Today we have 11 staff going for PhD to world ranking universities and research institutes. Permit me to present to you the future ‘academic artillery’ that will revolutionize teaching and research in Nigeria upon their return to our dear University.”
She further thanked the vice-chancellor for his selfless vision and service to the university especially in the area of human capital development which made him to support the scholarship initiative.
The benefiting staff include: Ogechi Nwogu, Omabe Kenneth, Arinze Nwadiogo, Ijeh Ikenna, Ugochukwu Onwudebelu, Gbenro Folarammi, Kasali Suraju, Jude Ozor, Archibong Friday and Egwu Chinedu.
Bidding the doctoral scholars farewell, the vice-chancellor, Professor Chinedum Nwajiuba reinstated his utter commitment to the development of the university by paying adequate attention to staff capacity building programmes, urging the beneficiaries to be good ambassadors of the University and the country.
He urged them to take their studies seriously, as they would have no excuse to fail; adding that their performance and attitude while in their various universities would determine the reception the next batch of staff would receive in France.
Recall that in January 2017, the university signed a postgraduate scholarship agreement with the government of France, with the first batch of scholars numbering nine leaving for France in November 2017.
