We all love to be complimented. Well, because it feels really good.

No matter how we convince ourselves we are perfect, there is a need for negative feedback so we can cross the wall of mediocrity. We are not perfect and there is always room for improvements and to be better versions of ourselves.

If you got praised all the time, you will be less motivated. If you have friends around you that always praise every single thing you do (even when you are obviously in the wrong), beware of those people.

In the words of Norman Vincent Peale, “the trouble with most of us is that we would rather be ruined by praise than saved by criticism”. He couldn’t be more right!

Of course, we know that too much of everything can ruin people. This means there has to be a balance between compliments and criticisms. Offering nothing but compliments can also ruin a person the same way offering only criticisms can.

Someone that is genuinely concerned about your wellbeing will strike a perfect balance between compliments, criticisms, timing, and tone. Good friends will want you to grow in character and will not fold hands when they see you going the wrong way.

Seek constructive criticism; it will help you grow as a person.
