Ify ndewo!

Your postulation may not necessarily be correct. Now let us look at some igbo izugbe words and see if they are more of Anambra/Enugu or Imo/Abia

English words Igbo izugbe usage Anambra/Enugu dialect Imo/Abia dialect
land/ground ala ana ala
up/sky/high elu enu elu
day ubochi Mbosi/ubosi ubochi
night abali abani abali
now ugbua kita ugbua
one otu ofu otu
food nri nni nri
bed nani soso nani
long/tall ogologo ogonogo ogologo
Leg/foot ukwu okpa ukwu

Note that I am not trying to assert that all igbo izugbe are of Imo/Abia origin, but to prove that it is not more of Anambra/Enugu dialect like you asserted.

Echelon, comments are welcomed

@ youngies
Ihe niile a idere abughi dialet ndi Anambra, I buru dialet ndi Imo/Abia tinye na nke ndi Anambra.

@youngies/ others

If you can lay hands on Onwu Committees Report of 1981 on "Igbo Izugbe", I think we'll all get cleared.

Now youngies to what you posted, I think Igbo Izugbe's skeleton is more like Imo State Igbo than any other Igbo state.

Note the word "skeleton". That means many other words are borrowed from other dialects to make up for lack of some words.

I'm searching for that report of 1981 to be cleared.

I have heard of that Onwu Report but have not been lucky to lay my hands on it. I guess it will make a good read. Ify and Igwe_USA, it won't be a bad idea if you try and read it too wink
