Yes it can but the capacity of the powerbank will be huge..... Powerwall pushed by Tesla is a type of Powerbank and it makes use of the same lithium ion battery like most common powerbank

Are you in need of a powerbank? Check out what I have for sale on my signature

you will use up to 2 million to buy fuel plus maintenance in a year whereas a Tesla won't take a quarter of that
so are you saying the lifespan of the rechargeable battery in the car is more than 2 years? do you have idea of how much it cost to replace the batteries??

Well, good write up. But flawed in more ways than one.

1. You mentioned mobile gsm, Iphones etc you failed to mentioned that other forms of technologies had been adopted before then. It wasn't that we didn't have telecommunication, yes we did.

The prices you mentioned was resultant effect of government policy at the time. You an Google to read more.

Look around right now and tell me that technology that 1990s or early 2000s tech that hasnt flooded this country.

For a fact, we are one of the fastest adopters of new tech. It depends on your exposure and connect to know whether or not these techs exist in this country.

². On tech know-how, when Tesla went to China, they went with Thier staff, which is the normal thing to do. They engaged in trainings...and recruitements. They created service stations - just as those you have here now (Toyota, Honda, Peugeot, etc) Not to talk of the fact that there are other aspects of the tesla car that normal mechanic can handle.

what happens usually is, if you are introducing new stuff, the onus is on you to train personnel that can handle customer complaints. Hence, if Tesla decides to come here, there will be technical know how.

3. Power - This is not even a reason. And I will tell you why. Tesla as a company does not depend on public power supply to power their charging stations. They independenty generate thousands of megawatts to power their stations. So, that is completely out of it.

Conclusion- Cars are no more new technologies. Tesla cars are just modifications of an ancient tech.

Thanks for the write up, anyways. You tirai.

Sell your powerbanks and other alternative power sources to anybody, anywhere in the country safely and securely using Nigeria's number one escrow service and marketplace. It's called eBay for Nigerians. Distance should never be a barrier to growing your business. Offer a pay-on-delivery that still makes your buyers pay-BEFORE-delivery. there is solar, overseas solar powers Tesla super charger....at the same time if you can afford a Tesla, you can afford 12hours light...people in vi,lekki, warri,pH,Benin have steady 12 hours light.... And to charge it

You probably have heard about the EV (Electric Vehicle) auto manufacturer Tesla. Tesla Motors currently dominate the EV market. But, why haven’t we been seeing them on Nigerian Roads? The first Tesla that was spotted on Nigerian road went viral and people that have not had light to charge their phones were wondering what the owner will be going through. Let’s face it, Teslas are not that expensive. I mean the Model 3 starts around the $30,000 mark which makes it on par with Toyotas and Hondas. Yes, there are Teslas of over $100,000 (36m naira), but these are equally affordable in the Nigerian auto market considering the number of G-Wagons and luxury sports cars this country has.

To the main talking point, why haven’t we been seeing Tesla cars on Nigerian roads?

1. Nigeria is a late adopter of new technology

Let’s rewind back to 15 years when mobile technology was becoming the real thing in Nigeria. Owning a SIM card was seen as more valuable than actually owning a mobile phone. SIM cards were effectively more expensive than phones. In real terms, the first mobile phone was manufactured in 1973; it took us 30 years to utilise it in Nigeria, and probably 40 years before it became ubiquitous. How about ‘smartphones’? Apple introduced the original iPhone in 2007. Android was invented in 2008. Yet, all those years Nokia was the thing. In the same vein, Tesla and other electric vehicles would take some time before they get accepted in the Nigerian eco-system.

2. Technical Know-how

When I say technical know-how, I mean on the part of the auto mechanic and the car owner. For any new invention, there’s always a novel approach and possibly a long one. The owners of Tesla may need to drive the car for a few days, weeks, or months to get used to the modus operandi. Additionally, there are no qualified mechanics to service an EV, or they are very few in number which makes purchasing a Tesla an option to rethink.

3. Charging Station

Electric vehicles are different from conventional vehicles in the way they are powered. While you may fuel a normal car at the next filling station, an electric vehicle needs to be charged in a proper electric charging station, and this may take several hours depending on the amount of charge you want. There are obviously no electric charging stations in Nigeria, meaning any Tesla owner would need to have a dedicated charging station at home. Another challenge is, you'll probably need to use your Mikano generator to power the charging station with this epileptic power supply.

Don't forget to like, rate and share. Also tell us what year you think Tesla cars will become popular like pure water in Nigeria.
