This country would not work. It cannot work. As long as the e-diots and e-warriors condemn president Buhari on economic issues and supports him the next minute he rejects the peace corps bill. Then I strongly believe there was a country . The youths never forced the APC government to promise jobs, they campaigned themselves. Somebody now offered the opportunity on a platter of gold ,they are shifting grounds. I pity the youths . the real cowards are the youths. SMH.

How about restructuring so we can scrap the House of representatives? The cost of governance in Nigeria is the problem. Too many aides doing the same thing or nothing at all.

Those reasons are not substantial bro, have you ever thought about the level of unemployment in this country??, i bet you don't have a month to feed, when you do, you will know what mess this is.!!!
you can't hide under the guise of unemployment and be killing yourself, your economy

Buhari is right for that. Arms proliferation, duplicate of work and waste are going to be the effects of Peace Corps.

. if you want peace, be prepared for war.
There is no place in the world were government employ people to stop unployment
You can only stop unemploynent by creating jobs in

You are very learned. not too long they published their duties ,the police and the NSCDC in a tabulated form to the public. I learn first hand the difference btw these organizations from there. You can do same if you are not busy. The government can use 1billion $ to fight insurgency , but can't use less than 5billion naira to kick start an organization that will benefit the youths. I pity the youths once again.

If that commandant was a Fulani man, baba would have considered them. It's so unfortunate for them Sha, Dem use benue man as their oga. Anyways, I doubt if these guys are needed, multiplicity of functions. What do they want to do that the police and civil defence are not doing already?

In my opinion Buhari is an incompetent dolt who must be kicked back to Daura.

BUT

With respect to the so called Peace Corps, Buhari is one point on this one. Making the so called Peace Corp another paramilitary force will be total waste of public funds.

The latest news in town now is president buhari denying his assent to the Peace Corps bill, it was greeted with mixed reaction from the general public.

but One thing I have noticed is that those who accepted that i was in the best interest of the country are more than the opposing side...

Let me sight this few reasons why they aren't in our interest..

1) Nigeria spend over 70% of its budget on recurrent expenditure leaving less than 30% for capital project, if we continue like this do you think if we continue like this we will have the Nigeria of our dreams?? Payment of salaries have always been a burden to the Fg adding another burden to it under the guise of employment is not right it will only be a bulwark to Nigeria's development. Why can't we utilize our meager resources to better things instead of creating another agency with no specific work.

2) Too many para military

Nigeria has more than 3 para military already all bearing arms, and doing there jobs effectively coupled with there problems. Approving the Peace Corps will just be another way for the corrupt Oga's at the top of siphoning our money.

3) overzealous and corruption we all know how our police, Army and other Armed Forces misuse power in the past and even presently, an NGO who is just starting it course is already hood winking gullible Nigerians, collecting money from volunteers.
What will be our faith. In the street you will see a Peace Corps volunteer asking you do you know me?? All those doesn't make sense.. instead of another para-millitary why can't we channel the resources to our police who is over stressed and better equip them with modern wares..

Is not your money ? After all APC promised the youths job and Job they must give. What abt all the recovered loot bin announced hmmmmmmm?

We are only looking at the outside, we are not looking at the inside.

A man who is ready to approve cattle colony is not ready to agree to more security measures for the country.

We can never have enough security so any form of security at this auspicious times should be welcomed.
As a matter of fact we need armed security personnel in all schools, churches, mosques, motor parks and all public places.
His refusal to accept the bill has ulterior motive s. Let him tell us his own side of story why he refused.

If it is to park our presidential jet accumulating bills they want remember cost cutting measures. Rubbish.

It's not the job of the FG to create jobs, but to create an enabling environment were business will thrive/prosper, thus creating more jobs. An over-bloated civil and public service will do the nation no good. Already recurrent expenditure takes up over 50% of our budget. That is definitely NOT GOOD. Lets not allow sentiment becloud our sense of judgement.

You want armed guards at public spaces? Simple: GET THE NSCDC. That is their responsibility, and they are seriously ARMED.

It's only in peace corp you've got to pay a non refundable legal fee before your application is considered notwithstanding that the institution is not yet legalized to operate. Something bigger and more corrupt than the police force was nipped at its bud before its formation. I commend Buhari for not assenting this bill.

Mike Ugo Merenini Tops Igbos Big Brains In Diaspora List

Some highly renowned political scholars and thinkers have come out with a nearly unmistakable assertion about Diaspora Igbos in America, Europe and other parts of the world.

In this very definitive conclusion, these social and political academic giants told those, who care to know that the Igbos in Diaspora are the big brains of Igbo extraction, who hold the key to Igbo political administration and preferred economic sustainability.

It is their candid opinion that the Igbo people should use their diaspora sons and daughters, who are abreast with the political realities and economic challenges of the present Nigeria to fill all political space in Igbo States.

In full adherence to the advice of these Igbo intellectual personalities, we initiated a meticulous but an expeditious search for Igbo Big Brains in Diaspora.
Our searchlight has methodically spotted an intellectually sophisticated and incorruptible Igbo Personality, whose placid manner and silent political activism will attract your attention.

Ndigbo, meet one of your sons, Chief Barr Mike Merenini. He lives in the United kingdom.

Chief Barr. Mike Ugo Merenini Esq, a Solicitor and Advocate of the Supreme court of Nigeria; Group Chairman M-99 International Ltd comprising interests in integrated farming, shipping, importation, printing & publishing, clearing & storage of goods and general merchandise; President, MIKENINI Consultancy Services UK.
Chief Bar Merenini was born into the family of late Duru Michael Chiaka Merenini (Mbuba Ekwueme) and late Lolo Harriet Ngawunwa Merenini of Umuogida Emeke Obibiezena in the present Owerri North L.G.A of Imo State Nigeria.

He attended Development Primary School and later St. Peter’s Primary School, both in Obibiezena where he obtained the Primary School certificate. For his secondary education, he attended Community Comprehensive Secondary School Egbu, Owerri and Igbobi College, Yaba Lagos where he obtained both WASC and HSC/A’ level G.C.E respectively.
He graduated from Imo State University Okigwe (the present Abia State University) in 1989 with LL.B (Hons.). Next, he attended the prestigious Nigeria Law School Victoria Island, Lagos Nigeria and having satisfied all academic requirements, was admitted in 1990 to the Nigerian Bar as a Solicitor & Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
He worked briefly with the Federal Ministry of Justice as a State counsel handling intricate matters for the Federal Government of Nigeria including the celebrated case of ABN VS FGN before joining the chambers of D.O.K.C Ihekuna & Co. (Legal Practitioners and Notaries Public) as Associate partner.

In the quest for further knowledge, Mike U. Merenini Esq. travelled to Germany where he undertook a post graduate course in speech writing, and computer programming/networking at the Media Design Akademie Regensburg Germany.
At the untimely death of his first wife Irmgard, he married Mrs Maryann Ihuoma Merenini and the marriage is blessed with 4 lovely children, all schooling in the United Kingdom. His first son Bobby Chikezie is presently an undergraduate student at Duke University in North Carolina, USA studying Astrophysics.
It was while working at the Federal Ministry of Justice that Mr. Merenini in conjunction with High Chief Mike Ozekhome, SAN and other fellow legal practitioners founded the Universal Defenders of Democracy (UDD), a human rights organisation based in Lagos Nigeria. He is the author of “Blame African Leaders”, a political satire about the political developments in Nigeria and Africa; UN & undemocratic use of veto. He is a former Chairman of APGA in the U.K & Northern Ireland and also an active member of Obibiezena Union, UK.

Mr. Mike Ugo. Merenini has contributed immensely to the development of his community, Obibiezena. While in legal practice, he offered free legal representations to most Obibiezena indigenes that required his services. Before philanthropy became a “big business”, he, in his quiet nature has assisted and continues till this day to assist indigent students of Obibiezena with their school fees and other school necessities. Most widows, the aged and the very poor in his community will attest to the fact that he has on numerous occasions assisted them in varying ways including but not limited to cash gifts, medications and various needful supplies. He followed the footsteps of his father who provided employment to numerous Obibiezena indigenes at the Nigerian Ports Authority in Lagos.
Most importantly, he has been a bastion of peace in Obibiezena.
He is of the Anglican faith and is currently a member of the PCC (Parochial Church Council) of St. Peter’s Anglican CoE, Brockley, London UK.
