A group of scientists put five monkeys in a cage.

Inside the cage, a ladder with bananas on top of it was placed.

Every time a monkey tries to get up the ladder to take the banana, water is sprayed on the monkeys to irritate them

One monkey then tried to get the banana again, but was ganged up against and beaten.

Despite the temptation, no monkey dared go up the ladder for the banana

Then the scientists removed one monkey from the cage and replaced it with a new monkey.

The new monkey having noticed the bananas, tried to get them

But each time he attempted to climbed the ladder, the new monkey was beaten.

Soon he learnt not to try to get the bananas, even though he doesn't know why he was beaten.

Coming from the angle of customs and tradition. We have so many traditions that has been in vogue since ages past. These traditions maybe good or bad, but the funny thing is that we the younger generation do not care to know the origin or reasons for practising these traditions, yet we practice blindly. A typical example is the paying of bride price during marriage. As it was in the begining, so it shall continue to be

I have learnt in life to always question the status quo and defy odds.
Even in as little things as ATM queues (a very real life example of this experiment.).I never join the long queue without testing vacant ATMs and many times I always withdraw before about 30 or more people I met there who never wanted to challenge the status quo.The sad thing is that they also handle other aspects of their lives the same way.
