Ijmb and Jupeb: Which is better? In this post, we will be answering a long lasting question that most of our students have always asked about Ijmb and Jupeb. Before we going into this, we will be giving a brief break down of both programs I.e Ijmb and Jupeb. A brief history of Ijmb and jupeb What is Ijmb? IJMB Means Interim Joint Matriculation Board. It is a programme Approved by the Nigeria University Commission (NUC) and a Proven Certified Advanced level programme moderated by Ahmadu Bello University with various coordinating body in different tertiary institutions and different study centres nationwide. IJMB Admission Programme is specifically designed to provide an opportunity for candidates who cannot gain admission to regular degree programmes in Nigerian universities for one reason or the other, as the programme only requires candidates O’level results or awaiting result. The programme is approved by the Federal Government as a platform for securing admission into higher institution in the country and abroad. IJMB is a Proven programme that guarantees admission for her successful students Yearly. It is also worthy of note that about 25,000 applicants put in for the programme yearly in which more than 70% of them successfully secure admission with it into 200 level to their preferred institution and course. What is Jupeb? Briefly, we are going to talk about the history of JUPEB(Joint Universities Preliminary examination Board). JUPEB originated as a result of different Universities coming together to create an alternative means of tertiary admission for secondary school leavers without JAMB. JUPEB serves as another competent and reliable means of gaining direct entry admission into Universities in Nigeria.The Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB) is a national examinations body approved by the Federal Government of Nigeria in December 2013. It was formally established in April 2014 by a consortium often (10) partnering universities led by the University of Lagos. The JUPEB programme is specifically designed to provide an opportunity for Students who were unable to gain admission to regular degree programmes in Nigerian Universities for one reason or the other, as the programme only requires candidates’ O’level results. How Ijmb and Jupeb Works? Ijmb : IJMB Admission programme requires Prospective IJMB candidates to select any THREE (3) A/L IJMB Subject Combination identified with their preferred course of study in the university be it Science, Art or Social Science Course. Candidates would then be lectured for about 9-11 months at their respective Study Centre and thereafter sit for the final examination. On completion of the programme, successful candidates accordingly utilize their IJMB certificate to secure admission into 200level in about 80% of Nigerian tertiary institution via Direct Entry. Jupeb: Prospective JUPEB candidates are required to select any THREE (3) A/L JUPEB Subject Combination plus General studies (English Language) identified with their preferred course of study in the university be it Science, Art or Social Science Course. Candidates would then be lectured for the stipulated period at their respective Study Centre and thereafter sit for the final examination. On completion of the programme, successful candidates accordingly utilise their JUPEB certificate to secure admission into 200level in any Nigeria tertiary. School Fees of Ijmb and Jupeb Ijmb Fees Ranges between #140,000- #180,000 while JUPEB fees ranges between #200,000 - #250,000 in our various study centres. Annual calendar of IJMB and JUPEB The new session for Ijmb starts Early April and ends In February while that of Jupeb starts in September and Ends in July. Similarities between Ijmb and Jupeb They are both Advanced level programs They do not require you to sit for jamb They enable you to gain direct entry admission into University of your choice. The certificates of both programs last for more than a year Differences between IJMB and Jupeb JUPEB is more expensive than Ijmb JUPEB is moderated by Unilag while Ijmb is moderated by ABU Zaria. Jupeb has wider acceptability than Ijmb I.e More schools accept Jupeb than IJMB. Both is good it only depends on the school you wanna apply with.... Ijmb is for most northern part of Nigeria nd Jupeb is for South West. |
