He was given based on merit and not where he came from. Such can't happen in igboland cos its a rare level of exposure/maturity..... Deal with it!

he sure did. I sometimes pity them for what they are going through, they started the tribal politics now others seemed to have caught up and learned some new tricks too.

How dare you say they started tribal politics in Nigeria?

Haven't you heard that it was Awolowo that started it by daring to compete for the premiership of his tribal region, and ultimately prevented Azikiwe of the opponent party from becoming Premier of a region where he was not born nor originated from, but was supposed to be unchallenged even by opposing political parties.

That they went on to to dominate federal offices by appointing themselves to high office and ensuring to use those high offices to recruit fellow Igbos as a deliberate majority, is what is known as meritocracy not tribalism or nepotism.

Show some respect.
quite amusing, but you can't accept the people there to be the most qualified now abi?your people got greedy and tried to take what belongs to others and you loved Nigeria , now others are doing the same to you and suddenly you hate everything about the country.

Its better to educate an household than celebrate a VC from an household.

oh my bad, of course to them if an igbo man is in position of authority, then it is 'meritocracy' when others are there it is tribalism. zik hoped to see his people dominate Nigeria so he stopped the secession bid because he and his people loved Nigeria, not up to a decade later, they hated the word Nigeria and everything that had to do with it . makes you wonder why they couldn't just accept that trying to dominate everyone else was a big mistake

wasn't the first in the Country but the first independent University. Ibadan was the first University in Nigeria

University College Ibadan was established on 17th November 1948 with three founding faculties; Arts, Science and Medicine

Ibadan was a College of the University of London. So we can safely say University of London was the first university in Nigeria but UNN was the first Nigerian university in Nigeria.

Who were the first 2 VCs of UNN?

When did those Americans become Igbo people?

it was UCI not UCL

Stop trying to confuse gullible folks here with semantics. UCI simply meant University College (Of the University of London) located in Ibadan.

Did UCI have any degree awarding powers?

University College Ibadan
It also became the first university established by a Nigerian Regional Government. The University College Ibadan, the oldest university institution, cut its umbilical cord with London in October 1962, becoming the University of Ibadan.

The same people who created unitary government because it would finally give them access to control the North and Western regions from the center, were the same people who opposed it a few months later when the center was still occupied by the same military, but a Northern head.
