Re: Holy Ghost Vs Holy Spirit by alexmakaay(m): 10:27am On Mar 25, 2018 |
Ghost is the imaginary spirit of a dead man. Spirit is the invincible force that never had body or what we call flesh. They are angels and demons. Therefore, ghost can never be holy. |

what so many Christians don't know is that, the word in the greek Bible is "pneuma" which can be ghost or spirit. now some people decide to use each word for different occasions. for example, jehovah's witnesses would use spirit when it comes to the Holy Spirit but will use ghost when talking about a dead person meanwhile, the Bible they translated from says pneuma in both places, so it's all deciet. if it's ghost, write ghost if it's spirit, be consistent |

Mistranslation from the king James Version. Ghost is defined as "In folklore, a ghost is the soul or spirit of a dead person or animal that can appear to the living." Ghost is associated to dead souls. The correct translation is Holy Spirit. Holy Ghost is not used in modern translations. |

realmindz: We are all slaves to what we believe. If you are secure in your religion you will have no reason to defend it and become aggressive to the point of calling people names. But wisdom is proved right by all her children. I restate what I have stated earlier, your post has no bearing with the Christian faith. If you think it does, kindly prove me wrong. |

Of the modern English translations of the Bible, it is only the King James Version of the Bible which uses the term “Holy Ghost.” It occurs 90 times in the KJV. The term “Holy Spirit” occurs 7 times in the KJV. There is no clear reason as to why the KJV translators used Ghost in most places and then Spirit in a few. The exact same Greek and Hebrew words are translated "ghost" and "spirit" in the KJV in different occurrences of the words. By "ghost," the KJV translators did not intend to communicate the idea of "the spirit of a deceased person." In 1611, when the KJV was originally translated, the word "ghost" primarily referred to "an immaterial being." With recent Scripture translations, "Spirit" has replaced "Ghost" in most instances. Some of this came about because words don't always hold their meanings. In the days of Shakespeare or King James, ghost meant the living essence of a person. Looking back, we see that "breath" or "soul" were often used as synonyms of "ghost." During these times, spirit normally meant the essence of a departed person or a demonic or paranormal apparition. As language evolved, people started saying "ghost" when speaking of the vision of a dead person while "spirit" became the standard term for life or living essence, often also for "soul." With slight exceptions, "ghost" and "spirit" changed places over some 300 years. The real issue is that both "Holy Ghost" and "Holy Spirit" refer to the Third Person of the Trinity, coequal and consubstantial with the Father and the Son (Matthew 28:19; Acts 5:3,4; 28:25,26; 1 Corinthians 12:4-6). He is the gift of the Father to His people on earth to initiate and complete the building of the body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:13). He is also the agency by which the world is convicted of sin, the Lord Jesus is glorified, and believers are transformed into His image (John 16:7-9; Acts 1:5, 2:4; Romans 8:29; 2 Corinthians 3:18; Ephesians 2:22). Whichever term we use, we remember that this Holy Ghost is God's active breath, blowing where He wishes, creating faith through water and Word. https://www.google.com.ng/amp/s/www.gotquestions.org/amp/Holy-Spirit-Ghost.html |

Re: Holy Ghost Vs Holy Spirit by BluntTheApostle(m): 12:48pm On Mar 25, 2018 |
Tetragramaton: Holy Ghost was used more than Holy Spirit in the KJV of the Bible. As a matter of fact, it is the more modern versions that have favored the use of Holy Spirit over Holy Ghost. |
Re: Holy Ghost Vs Holy Spirit by BluntTheApostle(m): 12:54pm On Mar 25, 2018 |
alexmakaay: But the KJV of the Bible used Holy Ghost more than it used Holy Spirit. |

vosquare: If God is a spirit and God is Holy, we say his spirit is Holy, then we have Holy spirit. But can you say God is a ghost? Can you say ghosts are holy? What is the true definition of a Spirit and a ghost? Then we can know which one is Biblical and which is not. |
