I'm an undergraduate, and I'd like to know if it's possible for a bsc degree holder to study a course different from the one he did at the bsc level if he opts to do masters. is it a prerequisite for me to study exactly the same course I studied at my bsc level. feed backs would be greatly appreciated. thanks nairalanders |

Samicine, you can do a different course but they are caveats. If the course is related to your first degree (e.g. BSc. in Mathematics and MSc. in Computer Science) you can go on to the MSc. straight away. If it's not related (e.g. BSc. in Psychology or Dental Technology and MSc. in Computer Science), then you'll be required to do a year PGD program first in the target course. Again, if the Master's degree you're seeking is a professional Master's (as against academic Master's), then your first degree wouldn't matter at all. Examples of professional Master's: MBA, MIT, MPA, etc. Examples of academic Master's: MSc., M.A., M.Eng., etc. Based in your last thread, I think you should cope if possible and leave when you're done with school (NYSC stipends can help). Moving now will put a lot of financial pressure on you and I'm afraid it'll affect your studies. Wishing you the best! |
