A 43-year-old man suspected to be a staff of the Benin Electricity Distribution Company, BEDC, has died while disconnecting all illegal connections in the Olori area of Ughelli, Delta State. The deceased identified as Theophilus, was called by his boss to carry out the assignment. The fact that power was restored or not is not enough reason for him to be killed. He simply did not follow standard operating proceedures when working on electricity. He probably did not put on his insulated gloves before touching a live cable. Most disconnections and reconnections are done when there is power on the lines. 3 Likes |
