Lagosians had mixed feelings about the commissioning of the best bus terminal in Nigeria, the Ikeja Bus Terminal, Which President Muhammadu Buhari landed in Lagos State to commission. The Ambode project showed how big the leaders of Nigeria can dream and what is achievable in this part of the world.

Many Lagosians felt the closing of roads and public holiday was too much sacrifice for the commissioning of a common garage as some called it .

I have lived in Abu Dhabi for eight months and was a user of the Abu Dhabi bus station which is the only bus station in Abu Dhabi. Let’s examine if Lagos New bus terminal is at par with what is obtainable in other developed parts of the world or not.

Lagos Bus Terminal Facilities:
This iconic terminal is designed to change the face of public transportation and it will convey more than 70,000 passengers daily to over 22 destinations across the State.

The facility, which is sitting on 10,000 square metres land space is equipped with Intelligent Transport System (ITS), Fully Air-conditioned Terminal, Food Court, Shops, Toilets, ATM Gallery, Free Wi-Fi, Electronically Controlled shades, among others.

Through the ITS, intending passengers can be informed of the departure time and arrival of the next bus which allows them to plan their movement.

The facility was designed and constructed by Planet Projects, an indigenous construction firm.
