akeentech:No. If you offend a lawyer, you won't end up in prison. A lawyer is only a part of the Criminal Administration of Justice System that convicts and sentence people to prison. There is always a judge or jury, and of course the evidence adduced much be against the accused. If you offend a doctor, he won't inject you with HIV in your blood system. It is never done, and if proved, the medical doctor will not only lose his license but will be jailed. Get your premesis correct, then you may continue. 16 Likes |

the power a blogger have depends on the popularity of his blog, his blog contents, readership base and the blogger itself....this things combine willminstil fear in any human.....there are few bloggers to be fear, which I deemed powerful here in naija....lindaikeji, the owner's of naij.com, ogbongeblog, bellanaija.com, pulse.ng...well even if they get such powers, they should be careful n not spread fake stories or lies just to get headlines and traffic |

The highest a blogger can do is to smear and blackmail you, but you always have the option is getting him arrested and having his ass whisked off to jail, even if what he posted about you was true. Then the blogger needs to have huge traffic for the smearing campaign to be effective. Most Nigerian bloggers don't have that and the few that do are definitely not ready to lose their investment because of you. |

Blogging is not an easy job and it requires immense grit, mental skills and knowledge for an individual to rise above the cacophony, distinguish themselves, and build a large, loyal audience. Anyone who pulls this off has now distinguished themselves and naturally, people will recognize that they are not ordinary individuals. This is where their power starts from. In addition, - they are trusted sources of news; - they are trend-setters; - they are thought leaders; - they have massive amounts of influence; - they are cultural icons and gatekeepers; - their opinion matter; - and they are financially well-off so their opinions cannot be comprimised because they are not hungry. Bloggers have an immense amount of soft power. Governments and individuals around the world know this which is why they always work closely with bloggers.
