Easter: Funtuna Waters partners a Humanitarian Group to feed the needy in Ikeja
A foremost livestock company in Nigeria, Animal care services Nigeria Limited, producers of the popular Funtuna Eggs and Funtuna Waters has partnered with Voice of Divine Truth Internal Outreach, a humanitarian initiative to organized an Easter Free Food Kitchen to feed the needy in Ikeja and environ.
The Easter free Food Kitchen is a pet project of Voice of Divine Truth International Outreach, a humanitarian organization with a mission to propagate the virtue of love amongst humanity. According to the International Coordinator of the group, Mr. Azemobor Gregory, “ The aim of the Easter Free Food Kitchen tagged ‘Operation Feed the poor’, was to inspire individuals and organizations to urgently rise to the challenge of combating the scourge of global hunger by feeding those that are hungry around them. As an organization, we do not have enough resources to feed and cater for the needs of all the poor people in the world, but if each of us makes a love commitment to respond to the needs of others, the world would be better place. This is our core message”
The event which took place at the premises of Saint Leo’s Catholic Church, Toyin street, Ikeja, kicked off at about 7am on Saturday 24th march, 2018. Excited Volunteers were on ground to handle the cooking and distribution of food to the less privilege who thronged to the venue to be fed. The special guests of the day who were served a meal of noodles, soft drink and Funtuna bottle water, included widows, destitutes, street children, commercial motorcyclist, artisans, people living with disability, beggars etc. All the people that came were fed sumptuously
Some of the staff of Animal Care Services Ltd , led by the marketing manager of the Funtana water brand in Lagos, Mrs Funmilayo and her team were also present to help with cooking and distribution of food during the event. When asked why her company decided to support this laudable initiative, she had this to say, “ Our company, which is wholly an indigenous firm is not only interested in the economic development of Nigeria, but is also actively involved in corporate social responsibility that is aimed at alleviating the suffering of the downtrodden and putting smiles on the faces of less privilege Nigerians. It is this core value of our organization that motivated us to partner with Voice of Divine Truth International Outreach to organize the Free Food Kitchen event. With what I see here today, I must Say I am quite impressed. This is indeed laudable and worthy of emulation. My company is proud to be a part of this epochal event.”
Other notable organizations that donated food items to support the event includes: Koowo Water, UAC Foods and Pages Sachet Waters
A UK based foremost humanitarian organization- Thy Helper Organization donated food items to supported the event and their Nigeria representatives were on ground to render volunteer service at the event. A social media Initiative that promotes and supports good causes- #Socialmediaforgood also made donations to support the event.
The 2018 Easter Free Food Kitchen was indeed a huge success as many less privilege that came to the event left with great joy as they ate to their satisfaction and many even took extra food home for their wards.
