Hello all,
This is a book a came across on the internet written by a Nigerian. even though i dont agree with the author and his views i still think it makes some interesting read.

Confessions of God
The Gospel According to St. John Thomas Didymus
A Resurrection Conspiracy Theory

While Jesus died slowly and painfully on a cross at Golgotha, three men, in a Jerusalem upper room, sat in on a sinister resurrection conspiracy which they never thought would change world history…

Who were these men?  What were their motives?

Who was the young man in long white garment the disciples found sitting in Jesus’ tomb on the morning of Jesus’ resurrection (Mark 16:5).

What happened to the body of Jesus missing on the resurrection morning?

A Conspiracy Theory Of The Resurrection of Jesus: The Testimony Of Mary Magdalene

“Then she (Mary Magdalene) ran to Simon Peter (after she had seen the empty tomb on the morning of Jesus’ resurrection) and said to him: ‘They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulcher and we know not where they have laid him.’”To whom was Mary Magdalene referring when, on the morning of Jesus’ resurrection, she reported to the Apostles:  “They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulcher…?”   (John 20:2).
Who Were “They”?

“And after this, Joseph of Arimathea, being a disciple, but secretly for fear of the Jews…And, also, Nicodemus…and they took the body of Jesus and they laid Jesus in a tomb where no one had ever been laid…” (Read continuously from John 19: 38-42 to John 20:2, to detect the flow of thought as it revolves around the keyword “they”)

But why did Mary Magdalene think that “they” took the body of Jesus?

The Gopsel Of Doubting Thomas Didymus

Mary couldn't have been referring to either Joseph or Nicodemus, Did they tell Mary that 'they' we going to take jesus and which could have made Mary to say they i.e Joseph and Nicodemus actually did what they had said?

We can say logically that 'they' as said by Mary could have been referring to the authorities that actually persecuted him. Jesus' tomb wasn't in the hidden that even the authorities couldn't have reached if they wanted.

Also mary could have been refering to the jews or the authories because of these Mark 14:58 "We heard Him say, 'I will destroy this temple made with hands, and in three days I will build another made without hands.'"

Jesus replied, "Tear down this temple, and I'll rebuild it in three days."

Mark 15:29 Those passing by were hurling abuse at Him, wagging their heads, and saying, "Ha! You who are going to destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days,

Matthew 26:61 and said, "This man stated, 'I am able to destroy the temple of God and to rebuild it in three
days.'"

Its very possible that the Jews could have wanted to prevent Jesus' statements from coming to pass. isnt it possible that the they as said by Mary could be in response to the above quotes?

As said by the OP, this is my own personal view as regards the 'they'
Re: Confessions Of God by Nobody: 6:49pm On May 13, 2010
@ OP, let me also give the following explanation as i read some where

SOLDIERS VERIFY JESUS' DEATH
The Jews didn't want the bodies on the cross during their special
Sabbath (Passover), so they asked Pilate to have their legs broken to
hasten death. When the soldiers came to Jesus, they realized He was
already dead. To ensure that He was dead the soldiers thrust a spear
into His side.

"But when they came to Jesus and found that he was already dead, they
did not break his legs. Instead, one of the soldiers pierced Jesus' side
with a spear, bringing a sudden flow of blood and water, These things
happened so that the scripture would be fulfilled: "Not one of his bones
will be broken," and, as another Scripture says: "They will look on the
one they have pierced." John 19:33-37

PILATE AND THE CENTURION CERTIFY JESUS' DEATH
"Pilate was surprised to hear that he was already dead. Summoning the
centurion, he asked him if Jesus had already died. When he learned from
the centurion that it was so, he gave the body to Joseph." -- Mark
15:44-45

JOSEPH AND NICODEMUS PREPARE JESUS FOR BURIAL
Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus took Jesus' body to prepare it for
burial.

"Later, Joseph of Arimathea asked Pilate for the body of Jesus. Now
Joseph was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly because he feared the Jews.
With Pilate's permission, he came and took the body away. He was
accompanied by Nicodemus, the man who earlier had visited Jesus at
night. Nicodemus brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about seventy-
five pounds." -- John 19:38-39

WAS JESUS' BODY STOLEN?
-----------------------
Although some theorize that Jesus' body was stolen from the tomb, this
was highly unlikely. The tomb was totally secured for the following
reasons:
- it was hewn from solid rock
- the tomb entrance was enclosed with a one-to-two ton bolder1
- a Roman seal was placed on the entrance
- a Roman guard unit was posted to secure the tomb

SOLID ROCK TOMB WITH TWO TON DOOR
Jesus was buried in a solid rock tomb. This solid enclosure would make
robbery impossible without notice. The entrance to the tomb was enclosed
with a large disc-shaped rock that could roll along a sloped groove to
rest in front of the entrance. It has been estimated that a stone large
enough to adequately cover this entrance would weigh approximately one
to two tons.(1)

"As evening approached, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named
Joseph, who had himself become a disciple of Jesus. Going to Pilate, he
asked for Jesus' body, and Pilate ordered that it be given to him.
Joseph took the body, wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, and placed it
in his own new tomb that he had cut out of the rock. He rolled a big
stone in front of the entrance to the tomb and went away." -- Matthew
27:57-60 also see Mark 15:46

The women who came to complete the burial of Jesus the following morning
were also impressed by the size and weight of the entrance stone.

"and they[the women] asked each other, 'Who will roll the stone away
from the entrance of the tomb?' But when they looked up, they saw that
the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away." -- Mark 16:3-4

ROMAN SEAL WARNED POTENTIAL THIEVES
The official Roman Seal was placed upon the tomb of Jesus to
authenticate it and secure it. The seal could only be placed on the
entrance to the tomb in the presence of the Roman guards who would be
responsible for securing it. To break this seal would cause the power
and authority of Rome to fall upon you. When caught, you would be
punished by being crucified upside down! Someone would knowingly be
risking severe torture and their life to attempt to steal Jesus' body.

"Take a guard," Pilate answered. "Go, make the tomb as secure as you
know how." So they went and made the tomb secure by putting a seal on
the stone and posting the guard. Matthew 27:65-66

The Roman Seal probably consisted of a cord suspended across the
entrance affixed by a waxy seal at each end into which the official
would stamp an insignia identifying their authority and warning
potential thieves who dared break it

I think some explanations are in order

what i posted is some sort of writeup about the book called 'Confessions of God". It's a book available at
http://www.resurrectionconspiracy.com/
written by a Nigerian. It's some sort of 'faction'. its supposed to be a tale about the conspiracy surrounding Jesus's resurrection
I dnt think i did any extraordinary. I gave my view in countering the word 'they' as alleged by the author of the book to have been referring to joseph&Nicodemus, based on the Roman law&bible quotes.
Re: Confessions Of God by solababy: 11:41am On May 14, 2010
simmy, how do you know that the writer is a Nigerian? i was interested in the book and i made enquiries i was told that the book is not yet available. i don't think a Nigerian will write a book like that. but i think that the writer had a point. if you read the place he quoted about Mary Magdalene you will see that there is continuity in the verses which suggest that Mary was talking about Nicodemus and Joseph but of course there is no proof. i would really like to read that book to see the writer's full argument.
