You shouldn't have dignified him with response. No sensible person talks about other people’s faith the way he did.

What is wrong with reading a topic/discussion that is none of his business and pass…….They always look for avenue to instigate trouble…….they concoct lies, spew misconceptions and create confusion without minding the consequences of what they do/say on themselves and their generations to come.

cronsberg:
Atleast my religion has evidence to contradict all these allegations you are spewing. But the bible that has clear verses encouraging murder, incest, child molestation by pastors, idol worship nko? Do you know that modern christianity is just a demented scam and fraud? Pastors raping choir boys, priests defrauding congregation with fake miracles, christian terrorists murdering people in central africa and the balkans, christian women prostituting all over muslim lands, christian guys smugling drugs all over muslim lands, the church has become a dance club with half naked women and bling wearing pastors rather than a religious house. Ya' ll are really sick in the head

I seek refuge in God from Satan the rejected.
In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
Question: Is buying lottery tickets or playing PowerBall or similar games permitted?

No, Islam (Submission) does not permit buying lottery tickets. In the Quran, God prohibits gambling and games of chance in very clear terms (2:219, 5:90-91).

Intoxicants and Gambling Prohibited*
[Quran 2:219-220] They ask you about intoxicants and gambling: say, "In them there is a gross sin, and some benefits for the people. But their sinfulness far outweighs their benefit." They also ask you what to give to charity: say, "The excess." GOD thus clarifies the revelations for you, that you may reflect, upon this life and the Hereafter ...
Intoxicants and Gambling Prohibited
[Quran 5:90-91] O you who believe, intoxicants, and gambling, and the altars of idols, and the games of chance are abominations of the devil; you shall avoid them, that you may succeed. The devil wants to provoke animosity and hatred among you through intoxicants and gambling, and to distract you from remembering GOD, and from observing the Contact Prayers (Salat). Will you then refrain?
Chapter 5 verse 90 and 91 are very strong injunctions against lottery, gambling and games of chance. God calls these, "abominations of the devil". Can there be a stronger reason to avoid them? If we love God, and know Satan is our enemy (Quran 35:6), we would never ever touch lottery or play slots or gamble at a casino. It is worth noting that the strong injunction to "avoid" is used for idol worship (16:36). Gambling and the lottery are that bad. It is just not worth the damage to our souls.

As we read in 2:219, while there may be some benefit (as proponents of the lottery argue), the damage and sinfulness far outweighs any benefits. Even if one has extra money to spend, and it's not destroying a family's finances, God recommends using that money for charity (They also ask you what to give to charity: say, "The excess."wink instead of gambling or the lottery.

We know that people who gamble and get drunk, usually have terrible social interaction. They are prone to arguments and fights and a few even end up killing one another. Families are invariably hurt with gambling problems, and people have ended up losing their homes and life savings in some case. It is no coincidence that Las Vegas has one of the highest suicide rates in the country.

Regardless of whether one has "a problem" or "addiction", gambling takes us away from remembering God. We're preoccupied thinking of the next bet, or how the next ticket will make us rich and solve all our problems. Instead, we should turn our focus to God Alone. Only God can make us rich or solve our problems.

[Quran 53:48] He is the One who makes you rich or poor.
Happiness Now, and Forever
[22:15] If anyone thinks that GOD cannot support him in this life and in the Hereafter, let him turn completely to (his Creator in) heaven, and sever (his dependence on anyone else). He will then see that this plan eliminates anything that bothers him.

Whoever you are, do not make jest of our beloved religion. Though you might consider your intentions just and worthy of acceptance into our hearts your manor of approach is disgusting to any sane Muslim with knowledge of his or her religion.

Translating the Quran in order to prove a point should be done in verbatim. You cannot add your own interpretation to what is traditionally accepted as translation. The Quran is not a play thing.

Your translation of this verse is cringe worthy:
22:15] If anyone thinks that GOD cannot support him in this life and in the Hereafter, let him turn completely to (his Creator in) heaven, and sever (his dependence on anyone else).

This explicit verse is referring to our holy prophet; admonishing those with him. Its correct translation is:

"Whoever should think that Allah will not support [Prophet Muhammad] in this world and the Hereafter - let him extend a rope to the ceiling, then cut off [his breath], and let him see: will his effort remove that which enrages [him]?" (22:15)

Also always quote references from the Quran, give it the respect it timelessly deserves.

It's really disheartening to see some Christians comments being the fact that Islam has been tarnished by muslims themselves. The both religion we practice today in Nigeria preached against gambling, fornication and adultery yet followers of the both still commit sins by venturing into the act. But this doesn't stop both religion to preach their respective doctrines.

Those who will be abide by it will sure do and those who won't will never do.

Isn't participating in USA visa lottery, a sin? What advice do you have for muslims who have benefited from that lottery and have better lives, which by extension has bettered the lives of members of their families? Shouldn't they forgo all those benefits and go back to Nigeria, where they ought to be? I need your response bro.

Ya Allah, I am indeed one of the sinners as i participate in this forbidden act. Free me from it as You understand the condition i am in at the moment.

You should try and stop. Looking at it from the logic aspects even shows the house always wins. I.e betting companies.

Also it is very addictive as the human mind loves been hopeful and you would continuously think you can win back your lost funds but in the end lose more by taking more risks. Also you stop being hardworking and always day dreaming about Money you can't win.

Those who benefitted from it were destined to benefit from it cos nothing is going to happen to man without the knowledge of God. Also, we are humans and as a human we are bound to commit sins that's why is all forgiving.

No one is perfect and no one deserves to be perfect bro.

Practice your religion wholeheartedly
Tolerate other religion without passing any judgement cos you are human not God.
Try hard to avoid committing sins, if you do (Repent and move away from it totally)

I think that should be our principle

All our Our investments in life is full of bettings and predictions that we ourselves don't know the outcome till you try it.

Imagine you have #5000 and want to invest in catfish after buying the fish with 5000naira they all died. And you use the same amount to play 10- 20 odds but the game crashed also.
So tell me the difference in the two investments.

Betting is not a sin to me.

If you gain through betting, its a successful investment!

Thank you
