UdechiHD:
Please you people should calm down with this 'filled with housing estate' kind of development. Economic activities should not be limited to just houses. We should begin to incorporate Agricultural, industrial and also mining activities. Those remaining lands in the SE shouldn't be wasted on luxury housing estates. Preservation of those lands for the future is the best bet and state governments should begin to regulate mass grab of lands in the east.
Rather than push this housing agenda for greedy real estate agent to milk from, I think government must begin to demarcate certain LGA's as industrial areas as well as for agricultural belts. The few lands in the east must be protected at all cost from land grabbers.

This is true. Each community must be made to reserve certain hectares of land for agric. Come what may it won't be built upon unless for ranching.

The lands we have for farming alone, can feed Africa.

All the lands left and right of this road for another 4 miles are for farming, and there are crops on it at intervals.

Of course more farmers are cashing in and taking positions to increase their business space, we can export rice to neighbouring countries.

Thank God someone is seeing the future just as I'm. We lack lands in the east. And with the way we are going about this mass grab and luxury show off, it may not be long before we have a potential crisis on our hands.
A scarcity of lands which is one of the components of production may breed serious problem in the future. If I had my way as an eastern administrator or any kind, I would enforce a kind of skyscraper type of houses for our people. If you must build, then construct something that will have the capacity to accommodate hundreds of people. Similar to the skylines we have in Onitsha.
The remaining lands should be for sourcing raw materials or the production of finished goods. True economic growth and prosperity is not hinged on the number of luxury houses or large expanse of properties owned by an individual. In our circumstance as a people it should be shared and circulated.
Pass laws that bans illegal land grabs.
Regulate building plans to follow a strictly high rise master plan.
Pass laws to allocate all lands to state owned.
Pass laws that makes the death penalty for corrupt practices and life imprisonment for nepotism.
Establish public-private owned mortgages with sole responsibility to build houses.
Empower citizens with housing loans to own apartments.
Demolish existing structures that doesn't follow the plan.
Map out 2/3 of lands in the SE for agricultural, industrial and mining activities.
