Love conquers all. No obstacle should be insurmountable when it comes to love and as many believe, not even religion.

The question of whether or not religion should be a deal-breaker is not something I can answer for you. First of all, it all depends on how religious you are. If you do not believe in God, then you would probably not care about religion. If you believe there is a God but are not really bothered about being intimate with Him then once again, Buddhist, Christian, Muslim, traditionalist will make no difference to you.

However, if you are a spiritual person then the chances are that religion would be a big deal because it defines the core of who you are. If you are this type of person then make no mistake about it, at one point or the other, the stark reality that you two believe different things will dawn on you when life hits the hardest.

The second thing to consider when it comes to religion being a deal-breaker is the kind of home you want to build. You should have the foresight of knowing if you would not mind your children not being brought up in your faith, whether or not you want to observe Ramadan in your household, share the grace as a family during meal times or if you wouldn’t mind travelling to the village occasionally to fulfill some purification rites.

Some have said that we were too religious in Nigeria and so are unable to tolerate one another. I agree, that fanaticism contributes to the problems in this country but bear in mind that inter-religious marriages are not as easy to surmount as inter-ethnic marriages. Many of us have come to the point where religion transcends our cultures and customs. So, if you want to date a guy from another faith, count the cost and implications.

Religious beliefs are too fundamental to ignore in a relationship. Trust me the only people that can have different religions and still function well in a relationship are people who do not really practice their religion

If you are truly a spiritual person and not a hypocrite,, you should know that your God can never give you a spouse that doesn't match you in life.... But normally,, religion shouldn't prevent you from being happy with that special someone.
